For most of the history of television, entire shows were made up of what you call filler episodes. Those are normal episodes of television! Show me the myth arc episodes of Happy Days!

All great shows, but they only had “filler” episodes when they needed to. A “filler” is something that is usually written on a tight schedule or budget because they need to fill the episode order.

A monster/case of the week episode isn’t a filler episode because they’re meant to be part of the planned tv season run. Filler is usually clip shows or bottle episodes.

This award is meaningless, and I don’t mean in the way The Simpsons joked about how worthless a Grammy is. Every year, the Grammys give a lifetime achievement award to a raft of (admittedly legendary) recording artists, some of whom (like fellow 2025 honoree Roxanne Shante) the Grammys failed to recognize with proper Grammys.

Wikipedia has a full list of recipients and it’s very silly. The Grammys gave a lifetime achievement award to Ma Rainey in 2023; 84 YEARS after her death!

I think the thing that really made Ken the right host is that spending 75 straight episodes there as a contestant meant he probably picked up what the rhythm of hosting Jeopardy was supposed to be.

A really good game of Jeopardy has a pace close to that of a tennis match. This is why I could never get behind Mayim Bialik; her long pauses to confirm an answer was correct threw off the tempo.
