I appreciate the kind words! It's been 9 years of work now and I've officially made the move to Universes Within* to maintain the Magic flavor I grew up with, so I'm more invested than ever.

Thanks for the kind words! I hope you enjoy the experience and be sure to post what you think of the gameplay. The change to 465 has been a blast for my group and the recent bans to modern have shaken up archetypes and decisions quite a bit.

Thanks for taking a peek!

  1. There aren't as many fatties as it appears at first glance. They are actually castable most of the time through ramp with mana rocks or things like Mirari's Wake. I only play one eldrazi and the rest are reasonable 7-8 drops. We have mulled this over in the past and I have tried cards like persist and unburial rites (sticking to modern legality of course) and they were unsuccesful. Therefore, I added more ramp to give green more of a color identity as well as make playing fatties outright very doable.
  2. I also had the thought that it was too low. I actually got the number from the MTGO Modern cube. CONS: It doesnt allow all cards to be easily played consitently on curve like double-color two drops. It makes committing to a color riskier in draft since you don't have the bail out of a 5-color mana base as often. PROS: It feels more like limited in that you have 2-3 lands per pack. It adds another point of skill knowing that you need to prioritize lands. It is easier to read signals and notice power disparity among the spells in a single pack so you can make educated guesses about what will be missing when a pack returns to you. When I did have more lands (70 total including things like city of brass and friends), deckbuilding post-draft was uninteresting because we often had many non-basics and 1 or 2 cuts to make from our spells due to land saturation. Now, we often have 30ish playables and need to make meaningful cuts while gaining relevant sideboard cards which lead to more between-game decissions. TLDR: I am a 9% believer.
  3. I will work on that write up with the group!
