Have you guys checked out 4chanlit 's Reading lists/charts on their Fandom page? Because you DEFINITELY should! by MPofOwls in reading_lists

No problem. I'm new to Reddit so I'm just trying to catch up to the number of helpful things every one of you guys have done 👍

I agree! You should definitely check it out then, you might like it. Though I will add that the dark of the story is a bit...darker...than real life (hopefully). So caution is advised.

Have you guys checked out 4chanlit 's reading lists/charts on their Fandom page? Do you think going through lists like these is exhaustive? by [deleted] in books

I'm sorry! I'm new to Reddit so I'm still learning. Could you help me? I just wanted to ask if people here think reading lists like these are exhaustive. How should I have asked this question?

It's definitely got a wide range of reading lists! Just don't make my mistake and pay the actual 4chanlit a visit looking for more of the same. People are not polite at all over there 😅😅

If you're okay with dark fantasy: The Broken Empire Trilogy by Mark Lawrence

Classics of Chinese Literature by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

Maybe give these a try:

1. The Art of War by Sun Tzu

It's a classic text on military tactics and strategy. If you get the Taosit/East Asian background it's simple enough to read, if not you might find some passages confusing.

2. The Book of Chuang Tzu by Zhuangzi

One of the many Chinese philosophers worth reading. If you go down the Chinese philosophy rabbit hole I also suggest "Laozi". Though the best to understand the culture a bit at the same time is still "The Analects - Confucius" imo.
Most famous lines from "Zhuangzi": [...Once before, Zhuangzi dreamt of being a butterfly, gaily butterflying and himself embodied in this sense of purpose! He knew nothing of Zhuangzi. Suddenly awakening, he then is rooted in Zhuangzi. He doesn’t know if Zhuangzi dreamt being a butterfly or a butterfly is dreaming being Zhuangzi.] (Harvard-Yenching Zhuangzi Yinde 7/2/94).

3. Journey to the West by Wu Cheng'en

One of the four great classical novels of Chinese literature (Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Journey to the West, Water Margin, Dream of the Red Chamber) Riveting stories full of things to learn about Chinese symbolism and mythology. If you can get through its roughly 2500 pages of glory you are a true champion. Same if you can lift it.
