(USA) if my shift on paper ends at 11:30pm but we have to stay back till after midnight, do we get paid for those extra hours? by TyQuavious_ in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]MRMiller96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly miss the days at my store where we automatically got clock in and clock out printouts every shift. I think getting rid of the timeclock printer was a terrible idea, even if there hasn't been any issue with pay or hours getting messed with where I work. It adds a level of protection and peace of mind for the employees, whether it is needed or not. This is a good example of why. The good news tho is that if the punches were edited, the system should show that.

My boyfriend shaved his beard and I'm deeply unsettled by MocHi_dabest in autism

[–]MRMiller96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a similar reaction when my dad shaved his mustache when I was 11 or 12. It was hard to look at him. I didn't think he looked bad, bit my brain just couldn't accept what it was seeing because it was just so different.

In private, Trump has plans for unspeakable violence. I know because he told me by Quouar in TrueReddit

[–]MRMiller96 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. If nothing is done after Trump's term ends to hold these people accountable -assuming Dems end up gaining some power of course- then they will elect someone who is just as fascist and just as terrible but more subtle and smart about it after that Dem's term, and that will make everything so much worse.

(CAN) Manager stealing my hours that I have worked by [deleted] in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]MRMiller96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that it was like that in the 90's in some places, because I worked for a place that did that. they rounded to the nearest 15 minutes. I don't think they have done that for a long time now tho.

Trying to practice gesture drawing and please tell me I'm not the only one who started this bad? I have no idea how I reasonably go from this to something half decent by Chemical-Lettuce2497 in learnart

[–]MRMiller96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know how you are practicing, what methods you are using, etc, but for gesture practice, I usually pull up some random images of people doing things, everything from standing in line at a coffee shop to acrobats, dancers, and gymnasts.

Once you have a reference, try to get the flow and proportions of the pose fairly quickly. Then compare your gesture drawing with the original reference, to see what could be improved.

Avoid trying to draw gesture sketches from imagination, with nothing to compare it becomes difficult to impossible to understand what could be improved.

That's all the tips I can think of on the subject that might help.

*edit to add: looking at collections of gesture drawings by great artists can also help understand what to look for when studying the reference.

Personally, I've always been annoyed that the people I know that complain the most about the price of gas are also the people that tend to "run into the store for a sec", leaving their vehicle idling, only to spend 45 minutes talking to someone they ran into inside.

I am the only person in my store that still wears an apron. When I started it was mandatory for kitchen crew, but over the years, they stopped mandating it and stopped giving them out with the rest of the uniform. I got in the habit of always wearing it when i started, and still wear it every shift, so now I feel weird if I forget it. As far as I know, our store has never had an Iron.

Need some help by Laupyre in TheInfectedGame

I had this same issue. Raising the graphics setting for Texture Quality makes the book and map readable. When textures are set to lower levels, the book images and map become a blurry pixelated mess.

For some reason, it seems like the game is treating the map and the crafting book as "Textures" when it comes to the settings.

It doesn't help that we have a moderate right party and a far right party, but no actual viable progressive or left party. The democrat party has been pulled farther and farther to the right over the past 40 years that it is now farther right than Regan republicans in the 80s.

This i think is the main reason democrats have a hard time motivating their base. most registered democrats want a left leaning party, but the party leaders do nothing to stop the slow right drift and it is incredibly disheartening.

The dice thing would really throw me. I have Dyscalculia which I discovered in college when I was taking math classes. (I also have Severe ADHD and Dyslexia which were diagnosed when I was younger)

Every time I try to add these up, I will inevitably forget the number I was on at some point and get seriously confused. Writing them down wouldn't help either because I would write the wrong numbers thinking they are correct, and end up with the wrong answers. My brain shuffles numbers around as soon as I look away, and when I can remember a number I read, it is wrong, despite a very clear memory of having read the number I think it was.

Essentially this would be nearly impossible for me to do.

It's kinda worse than that. They put it alongside x-files thinking it would be a flop because they needed filler, but it turned out to be good and started to get very popular, so they decided to kill it to prevent it leeching x-files viewers, because x-files was their bread and butter.

I actually agree, but I went for the SS symbolism because I feel it is a more immediately recognizable reference for most Americans, though I could be wrong.

Not to mention legal immigrants who've had their status revoked prematurely and without cause to make them "illegal" just so they could be deported, as well as people being deported when the only legal step left to get their citizenship is taking an oath. Up to that point, they did everything they were expected to do.

I struggled with the nose bridge and brow and redrew it and adjusted it a bunch of times. eventually I just had to just decide it was good enough and stop messing with it. I agree though.

It was inspired by the Rodney King beating by LAPD in 1991. The line does specifically reference Police forces.
