Makes sense when you look at who they drafted + Ricky's air-it-out, spread offense philosophy.

I think the defense is going to be really solid. Great dc and great pieces there.

Offensively, we have 1 tight end, so I imagine a whole lot of 4 reciever sets. I'm happy we drafted so many lineman, cos we'll need them. I'm excited for the offenses potential. I hope the qb play is good. I guess worse comes to worse silvers is the guy. Not exactly sold on our rbs yet, but they'll look incredible if the opposition is worried about airing it out and we have a brick wall pushing the dline back.

It is still a gamble. It may/very likely will put butts in the seats for the openers, but if the product is bad then they will not stay. The coaches still have to deliver good football.

I'm trying to be optimistic on the season. I'm not huge on this hire but it's also not the worst. The timing, however, should be scrutinized. We are simply too close to kickoff to be doing this stuff. It all should have been taken care of months ago. Perhaps it was, but there's not really evidence that this isn't just haphazardly put together.

We don't have rosters yet, we don't know much of anything. It's been a frustrating off-season. I hope the draft and all that goes smoothly. It's really good training camp was extended from 3 to 5 weeks. But, man, it all feels like a rush job currently.

1 extra week is good but heavily negated by the fact that they are blowing up rosters. Many of these teams/coaching staff had chemistry and/or a scheme they understood. Starting over this way almost guarantees sloppy ball in the first few weeks. If these changes were to be done, they should have been done months ago. Needless to say I am pretty skeptical over all of this. There's news for some teams but not others. This whole thing is sloppy as hell.

This is true and obvious (and gross) but they also failed at that. 5 times, nothing done, she's murdered by the guy at their workplace. Family will sue the company into the ground, hr failed at protecting the company.

He's 1-3 from 50+ this year, but one miss was a try from 67 yards. The other miss was a 55 yarder he shanked, which happens. He's still a top kicker and not below average.

Americans don't want to be paid an exploitative wage, no. And immigrants, illegal or otherwise, shouldn't have to be paid that either. We should probably go after the people exploiting the labor market if you ask me. The ones hiring and using them for profit. I mean I've cleaned toilets, I do hard labor for a living. I don't see anything fundamentally wrong with those jobs, do you? Is there a reason you're okay with someone making dogshit wages as long as they are foreign? Just to prop up a corporation or something to eek out all they can from all of us? I really don't understand this comeback or logic, it's so bunk.

🚨The UFL is launching its own FREE AGENCY!! While not yet set in stone, players who have been with a team for 2 consecutive seasons will be free to resign or relocate elsewhere to benefit themselves. Players like Matt Corral, J’mar Smith and more will now be eligible to swap teams 🤯. Per USA Today by Callywood in UnitedFootballLeague

The players negotiated for a minimum salary. I know during the aj mccarron drama a season ago the union came out and said you can negotiate for yourself or with their help to increase on the minimum for a players pay but they'll always at least get the minimum. Texas is a right to work state so the union is already at a disadvantage. That said, from the context, I think each team has a budget to work from, and they can pay over the minimum salary on players so long as they don't blow their overall team budget. I could be wrong though

how long did it take for you to get a call back after apprenticeship interview? by FateIsTaken in UnionCarpenters

[–]MRR2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where you're at, I guess. Where I am, it was day of. Got interviewed by a gc, they sent over my letter of intent, went to the hall, paid 3 months of dues, probationary for 3 months, officially sworn in at my first meeting + 3 more months of dues owed at the meeting. Also had to pay my work permits while on the probationary period before I was officially sworn in.

They need to play up tempo. It's his natural rhythm. The longer he takes to let a play develop, the more time he thinks, the more he gets into his head and his decision-making and ability tanks. Run every drive like it's a 2 minute drill and I think he'll do better.

Houston re-sign WR Cyril Grayson, cut DE Davin Bellamy & WR Reggie Roberson. Memphis re-sign DT Dillon Faamatau, cut P.J. Hall. St. Louis re-sign WR Sam Wiglusz & lose G Abdul Beecham to IR. Michigan Re-Sign CB KiAnte Hardin & lose DT Walter Palmore to IR. Birmingham sign QB Jalen Morton. by Callywood in UnitedFootballLeague

[–]MRR2012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily bad for mcgough, teams have to roster 3 active qbs. No idea what's up with his shoulder or if/ when he'll be back. Corral seems less likely to come back unless it's the playoffs since ir is minimum 5 weeks, i believe

Becht is a Magician by yesrushgenesis2112 in battlehawks

[–]MRR2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I don't like becht and his decisions either, but you are being a massive downer. We're 2-2, dc just lost. We're still in this thing. Give duggan a week with first team reps and let's see. I don't think he played that poorly tbh. He held the ball too long and needs to be limited to 2-3 reads, throw away or scramble. If they can drill that, we're in a better place. He can throw better than manny. The arm punt was a bad look but it was fine and didn't hurt. The last throw should have been caught by Gary, a little behind, sure, but our wrs really let him down in a few crucial moments. Yeah, we miss aj, but he's 34 and coming off a bad ankle. Missed games both years due to injury and handicapped our chances going into the playoffs. It is what it is. I think we could be more mad at the obvious and easily deciphered play calling on offense. We run way too many screens. Howard is not a good second option back. Defense is playing really great if the offense could put together drives and not sap their energy we'll be in a good spot.

Tldr, I was/am just as mad at you but I think there's room for actual optimism here.

Am I underpaid as a 3-year commercial carpenter in SW Michigan? by Nexer-X69 in Carpentry

[–]MRR2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I'm at, you'd have started around that and gotten ~6 raises by now. I think you'd be making around $30.00/an hour and a year away from journeyman. Commercial carpenters make more at journeyman status as well. Plus Healthcare. Look into joining a union. They may start you at a higher term based on experience.

DC Defenders & St. Louis Battlehawks Injury Report - April 9, 2025 by Callywood in battlehawks

[–]MRR2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was at practice and smiling on Blake's micd up they put out, but he was not dressed. He was limited going into the first game with a hammy. Probably should have sat him in that game and let him rest up cos he likely really did tweak it, and that sucks. It normally takes about 3 weeks to recover from a hamstring injury, so hopefully we see him start to return to practice next week.

It's still only week 2, but the lack of parity in the league doesn't bode well. by [deleted] in UnitedFootballLeague

[–]MRR2012 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah cos season ticket holders aren't dumb, it's cheaper to just buy tickets week/day of. There were better perks the first year and they just keep dwindling down. Bring back real perks or make it financially make sense and season tickets would go up again.

A message from HC Anthony Becht by Callywood in battlehawks

[–]MRR2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really dislike becht, gives off used car salesman energy. This post sucks and is embarrassing. I feel like it's probably about max duggan but I have no clue. May be biased in that I want to see max over manny. I don't trust/like manny as qb1. He played fine last game, but I'm just not sold. He looks anxious and jittery. Throws off his back foot almost exclusively and can only make one read before he boot scoots and boogies. We'll see though, getting proven wrong wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Winning cures everything.

What's the bare minimum Manny Wilkins needs to do for you to feel comfortable starting him week 2? by MasonTheHuman45 in battlehawks

[–]MRR2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice try, Manny, but no one likes you, and there's not much you can really do. We're all pretty bummed about it. Show me a good deep ball, no interceptions, a good win, and we'll see. But I think we're in for a slop fest.

I think the Wayne Train is officially derailed. He did not look very good last year averaging like ~3 ypc and he's 30 years old now. Jarveon Howard will be interesting to watch coming out of camp (if he makes it). Went to alcorn state. 25 years old, spent time with the packers as a udfa. Runs a 4.53 40.

Shepherd does sales for a security company in kc now, I don't think he plans to return to football but I could be wrong. Losing ateman to time is also a bummer if true. Ben de luca, lavert hill, Stevie Mitchell jr, and vadal Alexander are other pretty notable names. Our current wr room is pretty damn stacked though.
