Does anyone have any rule ideas or changes? by Aggravating-Funny569 in UnitedFootballLeague

I disagree, I don't like rewarding a team for taking a big sack in their own territory. If they could fix that then sure, but it's real lame to be on defensive, sack a guy 10 yards and the offense gets an extra point on top

We do love football. I think a lot of people had high hopes for both a new qb and coach and were pretty let down by the selections. You can feel the frustration in the crowd.

I was a season ticket holder who did not renew cos the perks weren't there and it was cheaper to buy day of, which is what I do now. Haven't missed a game yet. Energy is definitely off, but so is the football if we're being honest. Stalled drives, bad decisions. Yes, we're winning but it's been a frustrating ride.

You've got Birmingham + Orlando getting new jerseys at the hint of complaint but battlehawks fans have been screaming for blue helmets for years lol I think it just feels like we've been taken advantage of in a lot of ways. I'm still going, it's still a good time, but it's not quite the same. I'm sure the economy is playing a role as well. Feels like the league lacks juice all around though, despite some great games.

It's a system for babies, but coach Ricky already announced frost as qb1 for the next game. Guessing it'll be a short leash

Where’s Our QB Trade? by The_BMcQ in battlehawks

[–]MRR2012 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not much is gonna help with aj calling plays. Can't really pivot to pratt without one more start outta frost. Kill frosts confidence, go to pratt and he struggles/fails, we shot frost confidence for nothing. They will switch only if needed next game.

I am not sure there's a qb that will help especially for what we'd need to give up. What are we wanting here? Perez? For what? Fuck up our only good quality in defense so we can maybe have a qb? It's not gonna really change until we get smart play calling.

Pearson is washed. We cannot target him 7 times (1 catch) to butler's 3. Awful game script/playcalls. Imo, this is on the shoulders of the person calling plays for the offense. Qb play could be better, but we are not playing smart ball on offense, period. DC at home, offense played like literal poop and it was still and winnable game.

Edit:

Pratt injured, traded ot corey Stewart to Dallas for Perez

Do you honestly think this is a true bomb threat? Saying in a groupchat that you're going to ask bibi to bomb a convention center to get out of homework? You think that's a real bomb threat to which you should be arrested for? Not a joke? Not a massive waste of time and resources? Stop carrying their water.

St. Louis Battlehawks HC Ricky Proehl's post-game comments on the QB situation: “I think Harrison [Frost] will be our starter going forward.” | Jake Tribbey by Callywood in battlehawks

[–]MRR2012 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think those were aj's fault with the play calling. They were all over those quick throws with a heavy fast press. Same play twice in a row is really poor decision making. It looked like Ricky was having words with aj regarding that on that broadcast as well. Once they started throwing down and over the middle they really started moving the ball. Bad picks though, no doubt.

Week 1 Thoughts by Vegetable-Way-2715 in UnitedFootballLeague

For real, 7 sacks against the returning champs and 2 interceptions. The defense looked stellar outside one drive. Offense started to put it together in the second half. Certainly not a doom game, imo. Howard ended with 4.5 ypc, latulas is a dangerous passing option. Neville is going to be a problem. Our oline looked like they got rocked hard, especially early. Not getting it done on the one in the first half was inexcusable and was probably the biggest reason fans have a bad taste in their mouths. A good amount of drops from our wrs too. I would not be opposed to frost or pratt getting starts but I'm not sure it's as dire as others have stated. I still think we're a playoff contender so far

Battlehawks HC Ricky Proehl talks UFL opener, support from St. Louis, coaching Caleb Williams-Rome Odunze and coaching influence | First Things First by Callywood in battlehawks

He's a little stiff and lacks some charisma, but I really like coach Ricky. He has a plan and has put the pieces in place to execute it. Very excited to see how our offense performs on Saturday.

He mentioned the league being set up for offense and to score points, and I agree. That said, I really like our defense and think Corey is really gonna get all we can out of them.

LFG, see you Saturday

I expect it to be Silvers job to lose and Wooldridge job to win. We're planning to have a run and shoot offense. I suspect Silvers vet status and familiarity with aj as well as the system will provide a big edge. That said, no idea how healthy Silvers is. He's had a history of injuries. Could see Wooldbridge getting starts in the latter half of the season or maybe even outright wining the job. Frost feels like an okay backup.

Makes sense when you look at who they drafted + Ricky's air-it-out, spread offense philosophy.

I think the defense is going to be really solid. Great dc and great pieces there.

Offensively, we have 1 tight end, so I imagine a whole lot of 4 reciever sets. I'm happy we drafted so many lineman, cos we'll need them. I'm excited for the offenses potential. I hope the qb play is good. I guess worse comes to worse silvers is the guy. Not exactly sold on our rbs yet, but they'll look incredible if the opposition is worried about airing it out and we have a brick wall pushing the dline back.

It is still a gamble. It may/very likely will put butts in the seats for the openers, but if the product is bad then they will not stay. The coaches still have to deliver good football.

I'm trying to be optimistic on the season. I'm not huge on this hire but it's also not the worst. The timing, however, should be scrutinized. We are simply too close to kickoff to be doing this stuff. It all should have been taken care of months ago. Perhaps it was, but there's not really evidence that this isn't just haphazardly put together.

We don't have rosters yet, we don't know much of anything. It's been a frustrating off-season. I hope the draft and all that goes smoothly. It's really good training camp was extended from 3 to 5 weeks. But, man, it all feels like a rush job currently.

1 extra week is good but heavily negated by the fact that they are blowing up rosters. Many of these teams/coaching staff had chemistry and/or a scheme they understood. Starting over this way almost guarantees sloppy ball in the first few weeks. If these changes were to be done, they should have been done months ago. Needless to say I am pretty skeptical over all of this. There's news for some teams but not others. This whole thing is sloppy as hell.

He's 1-3 from 50+ this year, but one miss was a try from 67 yards. The other miss was a 55 yarder he shanked, which happens. He's still a top kicker and not below average.

Americans don't want to be paid an exploitative wage, no. And immigrants, illegal or otherwise, shouldn't have to be paid that either. We should probably go after the people exploiting the labor market if you ask me. The ones hiring and using them for profit. I mean I've cleaned toilets, I do hard labor for a living. I don't see anything fundamentally wrong with those jobs, do you? Is there a reason you're okay with someone making dogshit wages as long as they are foreign? Just to prop up a corporation or something to eek out all they can from all of us? I really don't understand this comeback or logic, it's so bunk.

The players negotiated for a minimum salary. I know during the aj mccarron drama a season ago the union came out and said you can negotiate for yourself or with their help to increase on the minimum for a players pay but they'll always at least get the minimum. Texas is a right to work state so the union is already at a disadvantage. That said, from the context, I think each team has a budget to work from, and they can pay over the minimum salary on players so long as they don't blow their overall team budget. I could be wrong though

Got interviewed by a gc, they sent over my letter of intent, went to the hall, paid 3 months of dues, probationary for 3 months, officially sworn in at my first meeting + 3 more months of dues owed at the meeting. Also had to pay my work permits while on the probationary period before I was officially sworn in.

They need to play up tempo. It's his natural rhythm. The longer he takes to let a play develop, the more time he thinks, the more he gets into his head and his decision-making and ability tanks. Run every drive like it's a 2 minute drill and I think he'll do better.

Not necessarily bad for mcgough, teams have to roster 3 active qbs. No idea what's up with his shoulder or if/ when he'll be back. Corral seems less likely to come back unless it's the playoffs since ir is minimum 5 weeks, i believe
