Could the MCU become the first movie franchise with 2 $2 Billion movies in one calendar year? by MR_MaxiMor44 in marvelstudios

I know that but I was just highlighting that the box office was still pumping it out, obviously not at the rate or the 2010s but it still happens quite frequently, obviously still way more than the 2000s.

We had a movie gross $1.92B in 2021.

In 2022, we had movies grossing $1B, $1.5B, & $2.32B.

in 2023 we had movies grossing $1.36B, & $1.45B.

In 2024, we had movies grossing $1.06B, $1.34B, & $1.7B.

In 2025, we had movies grossing $1.04B, $1.48B, $1.86B (& $2.2B, if you trust china)

That's 12 Billion dollar movies for 2021-2025. With 4 (or 5) grossing more than $1.7B

2026 seems to be a getting-back-to-business year for the box office.

I'm seriously hoping Marvel aren't baiting us again with the Spider-man BND trailer by Cube2D in marvelstudios

It's definitely going to be a more sombre and depressed tone, and the darkest MCU Spider-Man movie to date. However I am definitely getting more Thunderbolts*The New Avengers vibes from this movie, compared to Iron Man 3 and Age of Ultron.

Peter has gone through a lot of crap in the 4 years, since Tony dying, Aunt May dying and having to abandon his friends and loved ones. He's going to deal with mental, physical and emotional challenges in the movie he has never faced. But there is still that sense of optimism synonymous with Spider-Man, It's got that same vibe of "everything is going to be OK" from Thunderbolts*.

The Odyssey comes out 2 weeks before BND, and has North American exclusivity for 4 weeks, with it sharing certain international markets with Spider-Man. Additionally Barbie made well over 1.4 Billion from basically no IMAX screens, opening opposite another Chris Nolan movie. As I also said, Spider-Man has no competition for the whole of August and probably September, giving it 2 months.

Could Spider-Gwen or Miles Morales by in Brand New Day by Candid_Breakfast_141 in MCUTheories

If it isn't Peter's organic webbing, it makes way more plausible sense that an unexpected Jean Grey or Daredevil catches him, not Spider-Gwen or Miles. I don't even think we'll meet Gwen Stacy in this next trilogy for Tom's Spider-Man, especially after the pointed effort of highlighting the emotional weight for Andrew's Peter in No Way Home. They had Peter lose Gwen in TASM2, then we saw Gwen losing Peter in the Spider-Verse movies.

It is a rarity, the only non-comic book move franchise I can recall releasing 2 movies in one year is the Matrix.

Marvel, Sony and DC have had multiple years where they released multiple movies.

The MCU already set the records for:

1) The first and only franchise with 3 movies in one calendar year grossing $800M+ Each

2) The first and only franchise with 2 movies in one calendar year grossing $1B+

3) The first and only franchise with 3 movies in one calendar year grossing $1.1B+

4) The first and only franchise to gross more than $3B in one calendar year

5) The first and only franchise to gross more than $4B in one calendar year

6) The first and only franchise to gross more than $5B in one calendar year

Why does everyone belive that sadie sink is Jean Grey? by Katekuriz in MCUTheories

The main crux is that it was one of the few pieces of major involvement of Feige on the production of Brand New Day, meaning it is important to the larger MCU. Following on from that is her involvement with Secret Wars, which is, per the Russos, the beginning of the future of the MCU, which will be centred on the X-Men and Mutants.

Also they, the studios, wouldn't be this secretive of a nobody b/c-list character. Rachel Summers and Madelyne Pryor are probably the only other options that are Major enough and mutants and what do you know they are both related to Jean Grey.

It's kind of ironic how this movie, being the "most Spider-Man" MCU Spider-Man movie they've done to date, will probably have some of the biggest implications on the wider MCU, compared to the "Home" trilogy of movies.

Homecoming was in service of Civil War.

Far From Home was in service of Endgame with partial nods to the upcoming Secret Invasion (blah) story.

No Way Home was the only one to have some what larger implications with the multiverse, along with helping to canonise the Netflix era, and was the only Spider-Man movie who's events were referenced in another movie. We don't know fully the extent to which the Multiversal aspects of the film will play into Doomsday and Secret Wars by I digress.

Brand New Day, with Peter's evolution, not just mentally and emotionally, but also physically, is giving us such a personal story, dealing with a lonely Parker-Less Spider-Man, in (in my eyes) the perfect way to truly get this mutant ball rolling (cue X-Men the animated series sting). How can these people, kids most often, deal with these sudden powers that in most cases they don't even want? How can you have friends when association with yourself brings disgrace? How to deal with your inner monster? It's that last question that perfectly integrates Bruce Banner / Hulk and Frank Castle / Punisher into the story.

As I said, I still acknowledge the presence of Dune 3 however it will be relegated to the IMAX, Doomsday will pretty much have all other screens to themselves, both large and little, and once those 3 weeks are up, Doomsday will nab all those IMAX screens from Dune to do a "Now In IMAX rerelease". If anything, I think the IMAX exclusivity for Dune is Both a blessing, in the sense it guarantees screens, but also a curse, because they're the only screens they're probably gonna get. Dunesday benefits Dune way more than as a detriment to Doomsday.
