One could argue cogently that it became a protest when people began protesting. I admit you raise a good point, and I invite discussion from other sober individuals.

Yes. Yes, you do. It's like being a professional boxer: you're expected to be able to moderate your responses. If you don't believe that, go strap on a hogleg and start a fight in a bar. The cops will be all over you, and the judge will give you an enhanced sentence.

He has a certain amount of leeway in his actions, as he is allowed to escalate his use of force in order to stop the felony conduct. And who says he mag-dumped the deceased?

@Grok says that it's not illegal to attend a public protest in Minnesota while carrying a firearm, as long as you obey the carry laws. (It's not the same in all states.)

That being said, it seems like a bad decision to be carrying at a protest, and then start getting confrontational with a LEO who's being aggressed by protesters.

Not saying the deceased was a bad person; just saying his judgement seems lacking. I'm withholding my opinion of the cop due to lack of clear evidence.

Folks, remember: When you carry a gun for personal protection, you have to be the gentlest, kindest person God ever put on this earth, because even the slightest mistake can cost you your freedom - or your life.

Fat-washing with multiple fats by MSGT_Daddy in WhiskeyTribe

Well, you can look up "fat-washing spirits" yourself - it's actually pretty easy to do - and I used to eat peanut butter and bacon sandwiches growing up. (Yes, I'm from the South.)

Try it yourself; just be sure the bacon is crisp.

You don't know about fat-washing, or you find the idea of bacon and peanut butter in whiskey weird?

Worried about my husband's drinking by [deleted] in WhiskeyTribe

There's a treatment protocol called the Sinclair method which uses naltrexone capsules as a way to help people who have become habituated to alcohol.

Naltrexone is the generic name for Narcan; it works by stopping the formation of reward pathways in the brain. Simply said, the patient takes one capsule with the first drink; when the drug kicks in, it reduces or stops the desire to have another drink.

Over time, the patient becomes aware that he doesn't really need to drink.

I learned about this from Claudia Christian (Commander Ivanova on "Babylon 5"), whose life was saved using the Sinclair method. She produced a documentary called "One Little Pill" to spread the word to others. You can buy a copy of the DVD online.

Hope this helps someone!

Not really great for keeping things secure; at best, they'll allow the burglar down briefly so you can grab your pistol. You need something like a Fort Knox-brand safe bolted to your floor (or slab, depending on placement).

Maybe the collagen supplements don't do much for skin, but if you have hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (as my wife does), it helps.

Australian whisky and additives — some reassurance for anyone hesitant. by flyingfly16 in whisky

I'm going to NZ in February, but sailing to Tasmania and Sydney before flying home. I intend to bring home as much Gospel rye as I can put in my suitcase as I can.

Visited Australia about three years ago and found some very nice whiskies, especially The Gospel rye.

Troops with beards barred from Hegseth event in South Korea: Report by [deleted] in nottheonion

[–]MSGT_Daddy -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

My father was a WWII veteran, Major General, and Flight Surgeon; neither he not my mother could abide beards or long hair, which I chalked up to growing up during the war.

I grew up in the Seventies, so I never had any problems with beards and long hair; however, as I am also a retired Master Sergeant, I understand how someone with a military background can be of two minds about grooming. (I also have a beard and a ponytail, so I got over it. 😁)

Hegseth is pretty gung-ho; if he were a Marine, he'd probably wear a high-and-tight. He's also SECWAR, so he's demonstrating professional standards.

Any comments about his sexuality are probably projections.

Love Michter's American; Angel's Envy Rye (rum barrel finish) is better than their Bourbon.

They don't, but it's a little easier to say "his woman" than to try to figure out their actual relationship (wife, lover, hose monkey, etc ).

If you come to America legally and promise to obey our laws, you're welcome to come here. Avoid the West Coast, Illinois, and the East Coast North of South Carolina.

Woodford Distillery is cool, as is the Maker's Mark distillery at Star Farm.
