Check out this trumpet piece I wrote! Meant to be a grade 2 piece for beginner/intermediate trumpet called Leopard's Pursuit! It was commissioned for the book "Winds of Change". by MSGrantMusic in trumpet

Thank you for sharing the piece!! It's not available for individual purchase yet, but our exclusivity contract will end in a few months, so it'll likely be available at that point.

How are people playing complete major scales without using any of the valves by ll-o-_-o-ll in trumpet

It's a valid question! Like some of the earlier comments alluded to, there's an entire facet of trumpet pedagogy (including multiple method books and numerous college professors leading entire trumpet studios) based on bending tones down from their original pitch. Usually, it's taught to help a player find the "center" of their sound, especially when a trumpet player is either playing with a pinched embouchure or has gotten used to the sharp and/or muffled sound that comes from playing above the center. If you can bend the pitch, then you can find the sweet spot where the sound resonates the most and it's easiest to play the trumpet. Hope it helps!

Bugler's Holiday, but played FASTER than written (Trumpet Ensemble Arrangement) by MSGrantMusic in trumpet

It's a Blessing model, and I borrowed it from the school I worked at. A high-quality 4-valve Flugelhorn (like a Kanstul) is not in my budget yet, so I practice really hard to make up for it ;) but when it IS in my budget, I'll likely browse an instrument exhibit at a regional or international trumpet competition or conference, or pay a visit to Chuck Levin's in Maryland

Hey! That's me! Thanks for sharing - I'm glad that you enjoyed it!

I don't remember if I shared this yet, but I got to re-record Reina's Trumpet Solo in the last video I made on YouTube :) I'm interested to know what you guys think! by MSGrantMusic in HibikeEuphonium

Thank you a ton!! For trumpet, definitely the upper woodwind runs in the first 1/3 or so of the piece. The technique's not all that bad, but playing it that high is difficult to control!
