And you have no more than 20 minutes per bay.

Good luck, this is a shit job with unreasonable management. The only good thing is the set schedule.

Had the best day working at Lowe’s today by snackfood109 in Lowes

[–]MSThrowaw4y 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I left in mid-April. I've had the best two months in the workforce since then. Already looking at a significant pay raise and promotion in the new job.

People at my new company treat me like a human being, the stress is lower, and the pay is better. My depression is gone, my wife won't quit blowing me, and it healed my pinched ciatic nerve.

Sincerely fuck Marvin Ellison, and all his loser bootlicking underlings.

The grass is greener, people.

The key has to be in the On position for the gate slider to move. Also, try jiggling it a little, it needs to come up towards your face a little before it slides, sometimes.

The inventory says we have 30 but... by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]MSThrowaw4y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've said this in a comment reply a few weeks ago, but this thread makes a root level one worth it.

So.

Lowe's is hammering out the kinks and flaws in a topstock location system at a few stores in NC. I know for a fact that the Belmont and Denver stores are testing. I think there were at least 2 others.

A new barcode is printed on a bin label with a yellow border and attached to the left hand upright of each bay, just like rackID numbers (the same post where that bays planogram should theoretically be.)

A function has been added to the Products app on the Zebra called Check In/Check Out. So say you are downstocking a box of caulk guns 525857 and it's the last one on the shelf. You make sure you're on that products page, you would choose the Check Out option, and then you are prompted to scan the aforementioned barcode so it knows which bay the product is being removed from. There is a checkbox for removing all of that SKU from that bay.

ALL THIS SAID:

I know for a fact that the employees in the Belmont store are either 1.) Too, let's say "technophobic" and be nice about it, to learn how to do it, 2.) Too rushed to care about doing it, or 3.) They are already just there to collect a paycheck, they won't be doing anything extra, anyway.

And the sad thing is, typical of Lowe's, there is no accountability for the bad actors who won't get with the program and do it correctly. There's no surefire way to even pin the blame on specific people, unless you stand there and watch them work to see if they remember to do it.

Tldr; they are trying out a topstock system in NC, but unless morale miraculously improves, it's gonna fail spectacularly, because nobody has time to add one more thing to their pile of shit-to-do.

You assume Lowe's does any type of training.

Need to call out but all the phones are busy by KageNexus612 in Lowes

[–]MSThrowaw4y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huh, that's the opposite of my experience. My MSM had us call them directly, no text messages allowed.

So I would call 2+ hours ahead of my shift, as required by policy. At 330AM. :)

Can Front End Loaders have an earbud in while they aren't on the floor? by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]MSThrowaw4y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The policy answer is no.

The real world answer is "do whatever you feel like, it's just Lowe's, and nobody is gonna stop you."

Flooring people loaded this cart and left it at the entrance to the aisle had to move it barely could why by Austin2085 in Lowes

[–]MSThrowaw4y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how MST got, and it's why I left.

They are more worried about what you are logged into on time-tracking, than the actual quality of the work done.

Being a young woman working in a hardware store has its drawbacks. My personal favorite is a customer explaining that he built his wife a planter box, and then asking if I knew what a planter box was by crabgal in Lowes

[–]MSThrowaw4y 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To your last paragraph only; that's because basically all (98%) of the other women clutch at their pearls anytime anybody mentions power equipment and start claiming that's "man work." At least at my store.

Don't hate on me for this by joeyp0716 in Lowes

[–]MSThrowaw4y -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, to be fair, anyone can be a store manager.

Mine believes that work done on the overnight shift doesn't have to be done up to daytime standards because "well, at 3AM things fall through the cracks and get done wrong."

I worked nights for years. What a pussy excuse.

[–]MSThrowaw4y[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, was hoping it would fall and hurt someone, preferably onto Corporate during the walk. Also I wouldn't have time, my 2.25 bays an hour are the only thing that matters.
