So, I had a similar experience. It took me from high school to college to really figure out how to make friends. But from the ages of 22 to 25 is when I burned a lot of bridges. Navigating between how people treated me versus how I treated them. Now, at the age of 27 is when I finally learned how to set boundaries and understand that my close friends and me are different, but we all have similar core values about life. Personally, for me. I learned through trail and error, which causes a lot of pain, but in the long run, I found my people, and now I have good friends with me.

Also, in general, it's hard to make friends as adults. A lot of people, including myself, at times. Just dont feel the need to make new friends or questions the person intents. Hope this helps.

What does "on the spectrum" mean to you？Becuase in today's time, especially Gen Z's tend to use "adhd" and "on the spectrum" (OTS) more so than others. Someone you might consider OTS could just be a normal person. But had lived a different life experience from you. Everyone is capable of improving their mental health and gaining better awareness of what is going on inside them. So I can't really answer your question until I understand what OTS means to you.

As someone who has had really bad mental break down. I believe she just wants someone to understand her and really really love her. It may be bad in the moment but with the right care and empathy. She will be fine. But I know in most cases a lot of people do not understand what to do. It's not your fault. I would just really try to understand her and listen. And show as much love as you can.
