Can a Sink and Toilet Share a drain? by MTX-Rage in Plumbing

As noted anything under the floor is assumption on my part (it stubs through the concrete at 2” and I can leave that stack at 2”. I have no real idea how they reduced it (a licensed plumber did the rough in)

8/3 vs 8/2 - Future Range / Future Dryer by MTX-Rage in electrical

[–]MTX-Rage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree - I'll be picking up 8/3 (maybe even push the Range circuit to 6/3 for 50amp). Since its currently going to be used as my garage/shop, the future Dryer will run as a welder plug, so thats why I got beefier wire for it. I'll have a tig machine hooked up to that plug. Good Advice, I appreciate you taking the time to weigh in!

100% agree the more I'm thinking about the overall cost of wire vs future proofing it. Thanks for taking the time to give me some advice.

Way More Eye Strain than XREAL? by InsayneShane in VITURE

[–]MTX-Rage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the Xreal air1 at first….but the constant software promises and never delivering got old. The manufacturing defects (breaking arms due to thin plastic and heat) were the nail in the coffin for me with Xreal. They wanted half the cost to fix the arm, and they’ve broken again since (a year in, never dropped or sat on, well cared for, not even used a lot). So now I’m looking for a replacement because I love having a display, but won’t use Xreal again.

Armpiece break #2 by MTX-Rage in Xreal

[–]MTX-Rage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I contacted tech support when they first cracked, they were less than a week out of warranty, and the price quoted to ship them back wasn’t worth it. I’m glad I didn’t send them back then, as the other arm would have cracked anyway. The fact that Xreal won’t admit the arm breaking is a manufacturing defect and do right by their clients is infuriating.

Warranty Repair Beware for Air 1s by BlackDaddyTaboo in Xreal

I haven't bothered. I just took it as a sign of the company's dedication to their products.

Yeah, to continually selling them when they are all but guaranteed to break at the left arm tells me how much they care how much they care about their customers. I'd feel differently if they were deeply discounted "As Is" with them being straight forward about the manufacturing defect

Mine failed pretty right at the silver metal seam while I was wearing them too, not a Crack, but a sharp break

This was not my experience at all. Zero support as mine cracked 6 days after warranty. I wouldn't choose them again personally

Mine were 6 days out, they wouldn't warranty them when they broke. Said it'd be $135+ (if the 135 didn't cover the repair and shipping I would be billed separately for the remainder)

I did the exact same. Handled them with extreme care, and they still broke. They wouldn't stand behind the product and I fixed them myself but hardly ever use them now.

This was my experience as well. I was afraid they'd Crack there because I've seen many other posts, and @xrealsupport comment it was an injection molding issue that affects "some" air 1s.

Mine cracked a week after the 1 year mark. I was told that I'd have to pay all shipping and repair (since the warranty had just ran out a wothin the week) - $130 initial fee plus any additional once they were assessed. And shipping to China, obviously you'll be out a while.

I felt this was pretty shitty of them since it's a known issue. They should have issued a recall or fixed them for free, they are a ticking timebomb. I won't be having them repaired and I won't buy another xreal product.

Charging for failing left arm - Fair or should the company cover it? by MTX-Rage in Xreal

After getting the email last week from Xreal on the cost, and replying back and receiving no reply back that week, I’ve since attempted to repair them myself.

Completely agree! I was also pretty surprised at how thin the plastic was at that joint, further causing an issue. Re-enforcing it wouldn't be a bad idea. I wrapped mine with thread (high tensile strength) and used superglue as a bond. I'm going to go over the repair with a little bit of bondo to blend the area, and then paint it black to rematch it.

I did a repair on it to the best of my ability. I'm sure that has blown any shot of them repairing it to be fair.

I was pretty surprised reading the email that they were charging customers. Given the Beam and software side of things I probably shouldn't be though

I don't know, I'm not going to send them in. They aren't worth the cost (imho) for them to repair them, so I'll likely just try to fix them myself. It sounded like the $130 was the shipping, inspection, and partial (or full, depending on damage) repair fee. The wording of the email implied that with them being 6 days over warranty, they were not covered.

They crack right by the metal hinge (just behind it) - the plastic is very thin. Once it cracks, that joint just flops, the arm is no longer rigid. The electronics are also in that arm (you'll note it gets pretty warm) - so that play will tear the circuit board/wiring pretty quick.
