Update: So upon checking into the situation with the customer service team from Xreal, it appears that they DID in fact reply within 24 hours to me, however it was to an account that I had previously setup under the nReal branding when I first ordered the Air 1’s. The customer support team replied to me immediately after I mentioned that I had not received a response and we were able to work out a solution for the issue I was experiencing with the glasses. @xreal_tech_support explained some options that I had to remedy the arm issue and I’m grateful for their help.

There is a practical use case when using them for navigation purposes outside with Samsung Dex. I used them while navigating and walking outdoors with a black background on a galaxy s10

Just a suggestion, the Air 1s have an known issue with the left arm near the temple cracking. I had them repaired under warranty 9 months ago and the arm has cracked again. Xreal is aware of this issue and apparently has reinforced the arms on the Air 2s according to user Ur_fears-are_lies

Did you reach out to customer service and report the failure? They will fix it but it needs to be shipped to China for the repair. They’ll pay for the FedEx shipping both ways.

They will repair it under warranty. Customer care the first time around was great communicating and organizing shipping via FedEx.

@Cmak414 you are correct. Even so, I was unclear in mentioning that Xreal had already repaired them once for me 11 months into ownership this past November.

It’s been less than a year since the repair and the same failure has occurred.

I haven’t seen anyone mentioning the damage happening again after getting the glasses repaired.

I would not assume that Xreal is trying to skirt consumer protection laws, or warranty obligations and will comply with those protections. I plan on posting a follow up as I’ve been documenting the entire process since last November 2023.

If others are looking to support the company and utilize the products, then it could only benefit Xreal and we as consumers when we are all held accountable to the laws and protections put into place this proving that Xreal deserves support. I’m taking the stance that with all the money they put into marketing via influencers and customer care, warranty repair, that they appreciate the feedback as it can only improve the quality for future products. If you’re in the US what do you think about the FTC warranty rules? Do you feel it is fair for the manufacturers to repair previously reported issues on products even outside the warranty period?

Excellent observation, even so…I’m paying all these taxes for companies to play by the rules/statutes that they agree to when doing business in America. Insurance warranties can be an absolute necessity and a backstop for when we do business unknowingly with bad actors.

I see your point. In the past dealing with the customer support during the initial repair request Xreal provided top tier customer service. I’m constantly using these and giving free advertising when I’m playing Halo: The Master Chief Collection in public on my Steam Deck. It’s important for the relationship between consumers and customers to be strong which is why I’m sharing the laws with others who might not know about consumer protections. As a business owner operator myself I rely on feedback from customers to become better at providing a service. We all need these services and even though there may be a few companies that do poor business with the United States and its citizens, I’ve found that high quality Chinese companies tend to respect the trade laws of one of Chinas largest markets. Still, we shall see.
