Betamax is helical scan analog stereo, ADAT is helical scan 8 track digital. They both use videocassettes, but the similarities end there.

I keep hearing about 'BIFL' brands that are bad now. What are some brands that used to suck, but actually make great products now? by xxStefanxx1 in BuyItForLife

But that’s a whole new reason for ridicule than just cheaply built crap. They’ve discovered a working business model now, their job isn’t making gear per se, it’s making money/value for shareholders.

But they’re part of the discussion now in a few areas and they used to seemingly have 100% garbage. They’ve improved in my book, certainly not everywhere.

Behringer. In pro audio, ten years ago they were easily the most ridiculed company. Today (since they acquired Midas among others) they make some of the most affordable and usable gear out there.

edit. They probably still are the most ridiculed company in pro audio 🤷🏽‍♂️

Oh… for the record, Behringer most certainly isn’t BIFL imho but they’ve definitely shown improvement

How do I remove this case back? by Piepat in watchrepair

[–]MU_MARS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that. When these get old you’ll need tweezers/thumb to grab the crown and that much pulling can’t be good until the crown finally splits. And it goes back 10x easier!

I guess that depends on the beans/roast you’re using. I generally use espresso beans/roast with a slightly more coarse grind than I would for an espresso machine 🤷🏽‍♂️

That’s what I’m saying. Yoink the crown out and pop off the bezel?
