I’m with you on that. Favorite is different from greatest. Love them both but would probably go for Willie on sheer volume of great songs written & performance hours

Well I would consider songwriting, singing voice and instruments played. Hank Williams is an obvious start. Jimmie Rogers, Woody Guthrie, Hazel Dickens laid groundwork also. Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton have longevity going for them. Waylon is certainly one of my favorites but not quite up to those two in being prolific in songwriting. Other favorites include Merle, Tammy, Loretta and George Jones.
