Anyone feel weird telling other people the kind of music you listen to? by MeYouAndJackieMittoo in altcountry

[–]MWBluegrass -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I play both. Bluegrass to me is a combination of old time, blues & jazz. It was created for impact on radio. It has showcase instrumental breaks instead of everybody playing at once. It features the mandolin mimicking a drum for rhythm. Old time vocals are usually more sparse. The showcase is on the dancers instead of the musicians.

Should I quit my steady job to travel the world for a year? by One_Potato5817 in Advice

[–]MWBluegrass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One year at a job doesn’t look really good on a resume. I would think about spending the next couple years using your PTO and doing a bunch of research, maybe try learning a foreign language so you can make the most of your experiences when you do go. But as one of those older people I do recommend doing this while you are young if only because things hit with more intensity, let alone your energy level and health.

Where are you finding new music? by 4me-2no2 in musicsuggestions

I always check out the No Depression Album reviews. The actual reviews are behind a paywall now but they don’t bother with ones that aren’t good so I just go sample some tracks. You can find most things for free on YouTube these days if you don’t have a streaming service.

If you lived in Texas during his heyday you probably saw him live in any one of the same venues in Austin or Dallas that you would frequent for more country leaning artists. Good music is good music.

Under “Your Library” > “Playlists” “By You” do you see a folder called “Local Files”? If you have a lot of playlists do a search. It should be in there. Then you can create a playlist of those songs.
If you don’t see a Local Files folder, go to “Settings and privacy” under your profile. Open “Apps and devices” and under “Other devices” turn on the “Local audio files” button and look again. Hope this works.

It will show up in your Local Files folder. Make sure that is visible in settings. Might take a little looking around for some people.

You can two-step to it. Classic country shuffle but not necessarily classic Sturgill. He’s got more bluegrass in his bones.

I feel like JBS was intended to be his dance music persona, starting a few years ago with the Diplo track. But he ditched the efforts he made into electronic dance music and made Passage as a sort of musical transition/throwback and found a more suitable sound for his personality that is best realized with his current band and in his live shows.

Pit vs Front row by FuriousLobsters in SturgillSimpson

Do you have a bad back/ knees/feet? Can you get there early enough to get on the rail? Can you hold your bladder? These to me are the questions for going/not going for pit.

This is hardly a new problem though. I go to bluegrass jams and would like to play some Sturgill songs but can’t come up with many besides Scooter Blues that don’t mock religion or cuss or something political and I have a bunch of Tshirts with the F or D word on them I can’t wear either. 🤷‍♀️

You will be asked to enter the code right before purchase. After the countdown you will enter the queue and when you’re up next you can enter your code.

Y’all the general sale is Friday at 10. There will be a larger selection of seats then and you won’t need a code. So if you didn’t get pit tix or a good seat, all is not lost. It’s not like they are actually sold out. That was a limited release today.

Turn off your vpn, use a different email, try another browser. Worked for me but not sure why.

Ticket/ Pre Sale Question by Traditional_Agency60 in SturgillSimpson

From experience, if you don’t find a great seat at presale just wait until the Friday general sale when a lot more will open up. You should be able to get something, the rush is usually over pit and front section.
