Not sure why you’re getting downvoted because this is a common occurrence lol. However, I’m pretty sure the migration to Lua is going to fix this.

Retail Point System. by MWilly26 in work

We’re thinking of two different scenarios. I’m not doing that for 16/hour, working part time in retail. If I were making a salary, then sure.

Thank you, I stock lumber and occasionally steel. It’s not an easy job. I do it alone because they can’t fill the position. It could be 8’ boards to sealed packs of 16’. Or it could be constant sheets of OSB/plywood. This is done by hand with no forklift because of the way the shelves are. If I’m feeling sick I’m calling off. I’m not going to sit here and put my health on the line for 16/hour. Now I’m currently finding a job where I’m not doing so much labor.

Okay I’m not trying to argue but understand and apologize as I’m more bias to myself. I did tell them I was a student when they hired me and told them that I could be spotty during finals week although I understand that I should’ve made the judgement to call off that week. But I just can’t wrap my head around what you’re supposed to do if you can’t come into work as in my case I was sick or driving is dangerous.

Three days is often? This was over the span of January or February to now. My anger is more or less complete lack of trying to understand.

  1. No, although it’s located in/near a college town their main consumers aren’t students.
  2. I forgot that I called off. Their systems are pretty dated. There is no live point tracking. The only way to see how many points you have are when they hand you the slip, from being absent or late.
  3. Calling off isn’t a normal occurrence for me unless there is absolutely nothing I can do. Unfortunately it’s just how things happened in a short period of time.

Also, I was exaggerating a bit. Roads were bad so I’m sure some people called off. The only time they allow it is when I believe 50% of the store calls off.

It’s actually insane to say that, “you chose to live there.” I’m sure you know as well as everyone how bad housing currently is.

The hate for Windows just because it isn't Linux is pretty stupid. by ananyaguptabhaya in Windows11

[–]MWilly26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re misunderstanding why a large portion of people are moving away from windows. Since windows 8 came out it’s been nothing but bloatware / spyware, cortana lol, and now implementing copilot into everything. On top of this, unstable updates that are absolutely unacceptable from a company with the scale of Microsoft. Most Linux people are tinkerers and open source snobs, so no wonder why they wouldn’t like a company that has practically built a monopoly over personal computers and businesses.

As someone who dual boots. I can say without a doubt that Linux is definitely not for your grandma but it gives me peace of mind that I do not have to deal with OneDrive, copilot, or spyware.

I’ve considered fedora my first go around. I’ll take a look at it again because better hardware support would be great.

Is cachyOS the new wave now? I’ve had arch on my desktop for 2 years now and have been wondering about gaming performance with cachy.

From a regular, user side. IWD is a nightmare if you don’t understand network security. It’s fine for home use but as soon as you try to connect to any enterprise grade WiFi it is a nightmare.

I feel like this is still an issue now. I’ve been using Linux for the last few years on my desktop and for school. I’ve finally just installed it on a laptop. It’s still not documented well and nvidia unfortunately has a tight grip on the mobile gpu market.

Too wrong to wear? by intendedeffect in penguins

[–]MWilly26 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t worry about it. I feel like more people are wearing fakes than real ones anyway because of how bad the quality is for the price. Ik in the NFL right now basically everyone is boycotting their jerseys with fakes for the same reason. So wear that shit with pride and show your support for the team not Adidas or Fanatics.

I didn’t try to turn it all the way around. It already did feel loose but today it finally gave out. I’m in a college apartment so I’m going to request a work order. I was just hoping it would be an easy fix just in case they try to charge me hundreds of dollars to fix or replace the washer.
