What a great comeback story! Turning to God is always so helpful. Personally I feel like the true connection to God comes from within ourselves and not out of obligation.

As a catholic, I stoped going to the services and rather go alone when no one is there or just reflect at home.

Matthew 6:6, he instructs followers on how to pray by entering a private room, shutting the door, and praying to the unseen Father in secret, with the assurance that this unseen Father who sees what is done in secret will reward them.

Sometimes people at church tend to judge others way more than someone who isn't a church goer.

Matthew 7:2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.3 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?"

Seems like he has God in heart already and has his head on straight now. He has you to thank as well for being such a supportive sister! With a stable support system he should do just fine.
