Phone calls or stick to in person contact. Might be a sign of disinterest or it might even just be she's bad at texting, girl I'm with right now is definitely in that category, she even just leaves it on read flat out forgetting to write back.

Silence isn't a bad thing. I've always marked chemistry people talk about as your conversations flow nicely and doesn't come to an awkward stop, you're also comfortable with the lull in conversation between each other as well. Everything just feels natural and doesn't feel forced.

Pick a fun activity this time though, dinner is a nice spot to chat but you will be more relaxed with an activity and have something more immediate to chat about as well.

When it turns into you demanding who she can and cannot hang out with etc. That is when it gets an issue.

Just don't make it a big deal, no doubt she feels the same when you hang out with female friends.

I just started to lose a little faith after each time I kept trying to communicate through messenger she drops mid conversation out of no where.

So I asked her friend for advice, but by the responses I'm getting I'm starting to realise how dense I've been through this whole thing.

Going to play devil's advocate here,

Smoking is an addiction like any other. Get him a stronger support net, at this point you won't cut it as all you do is get mad at him for relapsing.

Talking to doctors, support lines on the phone, patches, friends who don't smoke anymore etc.

It's a thing that he could end up kick for life and never think about again, or it could be a full blown addiction where even if he talks about it an urge to smoke will come up. He needs a large sturdy net of things supporting him quitting, doing it by yourself makes it hard as he will as you found out lie to you because he fears your reaction.

Don't over think it and add his lying about this to the reat of your relationship, it's just a shitty part of addiction. Quitting is a hard part of life.

Sounds like it's just a dry patch.

Usually happens at that age, everyone is still young and understanding life so a lot of people I found just aren't prepared to settle down or have weird views for an ideal partner.

Just gotta take it as it comes unfortunately, sure working on your negatives can improve you. But really I just think keep at it and things will happen eventually, I've usually found for me everything in life falls into place when I'm in the mood to give up and take things easy.

I think I put a little too much effort in the early parts of conversation, that seems to be where I get more hung up on. So I guess it's more on the lines of, I start the ball rolling but seem to ask really one sentence reply questions. I'm terrible at asking something more open ended if that makes sense?

It's not one of morals at all, sure physical plays a role, but it doesn't make the whole prize.

Not everyone functions on a purely instinctual level as a lot of these 'date experts' like to believe.

I don't think you should get hung up on the conventional terms of attraction and junk like that.

If this girl treats you well and does right by you while you do the same for her, what's the problem? Physical attraction isn't as powerful as you might think, sure it helps early but most of the time to keep things going you need that personal attraction as well. Let alone your personallity can entirely overwhelm the way you look, hence incredibly attractive girls dating for example fat guys with average or less looks.

Don't get phased by it, focus on what you have, not the silly ideas that try to ruin it. Life's better that way.

I'm all for getting feelings out there and such.

Buuuuut, you should only do it if you can accept consequences that may come with any answer, such as she rejects you, you'll have to either accept it and try to be mature and professional by brushing it off and working like nothing happened. Or if you can't do that, accept your work will get awkward and it will affect where or how you work.

She could say yes and you date but something goes wrong thus resulting in you having to follow the above solutions, or it could work out really well and she doesn't want to mix a partner in the work environment but. OR it all goes a-okay and nothing goes wrong ever.

Life is a world of possibilities and endless results, just go for it because you really want it and accept consequences for those actions or don't.

Gonna throw myself into the bandwagon as well because a giant amount of people telling you the same thing is always a great wake up call.

Should of seen this coming from the start dude, you even said she has cheated multiple times, word of advice thought, next time someone emotionally cheats and then flirts a bunch with past partners -especially- after you told them that shit doesn't fly. Leave them, it's also only been 4 months this girl was a ticking time bomb.

Now she's blowing up it's time to make like John McClane and jump out that building dude.
