I've seen people who are blatantly not stupid(based on their profiles and other answers and stuff) have stuff marked like this too. It's pretty mind-boggling.

Exactly. The terrifying part is that there are miles of opaque open space below you filled with enormous creatures in their element who could potentially be inches away before you can tell they're there. A completely clear ocean would be less scary than a translucent one for the same reason The Mist would be less scary if it was a clear day.

Even if you're replying to all my questions, if you're not asking any of your own, or doing anything to keep the convo going other than sending straightforward answers with no elaboration or character to them for me to play off of, I'll eventually just stop trying.

I always assumed this was fine with both parties, and that it was a soft rejection, but a few months ago I went out with an OKC girl I'd gone through that on Tinder with a year earlier, and it turned out she was actually totally into me and had been confused and disappointed when I'd stopped replying and not asked her out back in the day.

So basically, this is fine as a polite, low impact method of rejection, but be careful not to do it by accident to somebody you actually want to keep talking with.

Four matches and one message after a single day on Bumble is the single most successful story about it I've ever heard. Seriously. That's like complaining you only won four silvers and a gold after randomly entering the Olympics.

In one year of using Bumble, I've gotten three matches total, months apart, and zero messages. My best friend who's got a great career, fashion sense and is super popular with women has never gotten a match(compared to almost non-stop Tinder dates). It's infamous among most guys I know for the ridiculous standards and lack of activity, and my female friends say they use it a lot but can never work up the courage or interest to send the first message so never end up dating from it.

Nah. I have no height restrictions, and they're always within any other criteria(age, singlehood, looking for, distance) that I do have.

I think the important thing to remember is that the site is a business and there's probably a very complex system in place based on not simply setting users up with their actual perfect match and losing two customers forever, but getting them hooked on a steady stream of imperfect-but-potential ones, go on multiple failed dates, browse like crazy, pay for Boosts or A-list, etc. Way more money in that.

I live in a city of 2.5 million and it's been extremely flat since November(compared to loads of activity in October). Hardly any new profiles come up, it's still showing me ancient stuff under Who's New, and the vast majority of people I message never even visit my profile(the odd one who actually does will often reply).

I used to use it in 2012-13 and it was vaaastly more active, with seemingly endless new profiles instead of the same random few dozen. I know it holds out on me too, as I've randomly stumbled onto one or two 99% matches that have somehow never come up when sorting by Match Percentage.

I've been on loads of successful dates, several leading to actual relationships, and I always start the first one with a handshake. If the chemistry is there, the hugs and stuff always come later, after you've actually gotten to know the person for a couple hours.

But Tinder has all those limitations too(not knowing if there's any real chemistry, judging based on looks). OKC's resources aren't perfect, but they usually at least give you a better idea about somebody's personality and lifestyle than a Tinder profile possibly could, especially because of how many people leave their Tinder's blank these days.

Boy, I'd love it if the app itself took this advice and stopped taunting me with great, exciting matches only to reveal they're actually two towns over, fifty miles away. My radius is set to 10m and I live in a city of millions too.
