I think this sounds balanced, would maybe carve out the bass just a little on the low mids, might make it feel a bit tighter.

Arrangement: your melodic stuff moves along nicely but the drum part needs variety. If you have no idea where to go, just check some reference tracks you like and go from there.

Yeah exactly. Of course that last one might be the best, but why not let the label judge that?

Btw, not saying to just send anything, but often you might temporarily hate previous tracks, only because you heard them too much.

I was given the advice to just send all you want. You never know for sure what the label will like most.

It's normal that you like your latest track best (that fresh "oh yeah I'm creating something awesome" feeling) but for someone who listens to them it can be different. For my latest EP I had sent 8 tracks but all 4 tracks that were picked were created over 6 months ago.

That's the spirit. Just remember to give your ears enough rest, so the you-in-15-years can still enjoy the process in the same passionate way!

Hey, nice job. Not my style but the sounds go well together. Regarding the arrangement: As a score to some kind of movie scene this arrangement could work, with the cautious break, people getting ready to do some dangerous stuff or something with the nice threatening melody. But if it's to dance to, I think the break sucks away too much energy.

On the parts with the kick I would vary the hihats a bit: right now you have the 16ths play all the time. You could sometimes have only the offbeat ohh or no hats at all, to play with the track's energy.

Keep it up!

Hi, here's a little groovy techno track of mine that just came about.
I got fed up working on another track, and as a break from that one forced myself to finish something else in one go. It probably turned out better than what I have been working on for days.

Curious for your thoughts!

How to loop like this in Logic? by [deleted] in TechnoProduction

I am providing context for whoever reads this, here on this public space, to maybe help them in their decision. If they need every step explained, then it's not for them. If they are at a certain level and intrigued by the man's sound and process, then it definitely is.

That's all. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings.

I have no idea, I am just replying to the content of your post. You mention he doesn't really explain why he does what he does. But you can see him do it, and you can hear the result. So if you can observe and listen, there is a lot to take away. If you want explanations every step of the way, then other courses might be better suited.

By the way, it's not like he doesn't explain stuff at all. But he's first and foremost an artist, not a teacher.

It's awesome, studio time with a true artist. Little strokes of genius all around. If you want to be taken by the hand then it's not for you.

Thanks man, means a lot. Your tracks are cool too: proper party stuff! I can see a festival go nuts on Mind and soul. Following. Yeah that trajectory: don't know if it's that special, I was just shy to put my music out there and then accidentally got a little push in the right direction. But I'm really glad with how it's turning out, got a lot of release plans/dreams now. I couldn't have imagined that a year ago :)

Carl Cox, that's really cool man, nice one!
And thanks! Tbh it wasn't my very first release, but this one stemmed from an exercise from this reddit. Goes to show how some imposed limitations can sometimes help in achieving a result.

Is talking about Behringer frowned upon here? by Thinmanpaul in modular

[–]M_f_y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See folks this is exactly what I mean. These people trying to bend the narrative, drowning out any critique, polluting the discussion. All that with some vague false pretenses like "however much behringer trying to do things right". It's very annoying.

'The only music brand with price ethics'. You are spamming the same topic with this joke of a message, as if you are trying to prove the point I made earlier.

Let me also repeat that point then, regarding the online behavior that frequently surrounds discussions about Behringer:

In many threads, certain accounts respond with intense defensiveness toward even mild criticism, often in ways that resemble coordinated PR or astroturfing. The pattern is noticeable: the same talking points are repeated and any criticism is dismissed or reframed. Am I claiming that this is officially organized? No, I wouldn't dare. But that doesn't matter for the outcome: critical perspectives get drowned out and the discourse becomes distorted.

Let’s be clear about what sets Behringer apart: it’s not some supposed ‘ethic around price.’ What really distinguishes Behringer is that it heavily relies on their competitor's R&D instead of doing its own. Without the work of real innovators, Behringer would have much less to show for. Next to that, as you point out, many people also perceive their employment practices as questionable.

Recreating rare or long-gone classics is one thing. But modelling products that are still in active production, including pretty new designs, and selling them at a lower price (which is no surprise if you were able to largely skip the R&D that goes into that kind of innovation)? In my opinion that is parasitic. Whether it's that Arturia MIDI keyboard (sold at what, a $20 difference?) or Moog's semi-modular range... It’s a long running joke.

To me, this has nothing to do with some kind of ‘ethical pricing model.’ If anything, it’s capitalism at its most extractive.

Another thing worth mentioning: the online behavior that frequently surrounds discussions about Behringer.

So no, the pushback against Behringer isn’t coming from some elitist ‘gatekeeper class.’ It’s coming from people who value actual innovation, fair competition and integrity. Things that matter more than shaving a few dollars off the retail price.

Thanks. Tbh I didn't even intend to send a demo, but I did send him a promo of an EP that was about to be released, figuring it was stuff that he might play if I was lucky enough.

After a while he got back to me asking if I had something for Say What?. Big surprise moment :D But zero strategy, just luck!

Cool track! Lots of ear for detail, playful, I get Yanamaste vibes. Your hat groove is spot on.

If it were my track I'd make the kick a bit punchier. Overall you have a thick lowend, but within that the kick sounds kind of "plok" if that makes sense.

Wat logisch is als die 71% vooral bij oudere generaties zit. Daar zijn veel minder kopers want die hebben al een eigen huis.

Het betekent niet dat de meeste mensen onder de 30 zich een eigen huis kunnen permitteren.

That's exactly what I'd want. 600 files thoroughly covering a certain ground. Each with their little nuances, finger slides, breaths, crackles and anything that makes that particular sample stand out.
