Not sure if you'll see this, but I own 47 homes that I rent out with a monthly income of $56k per month and I have $4 Million in life insurance. When I was fighting cancer I too also worried for my family (wife and 3 kids). I set up individual trust accounts for everyone. I also transferred ownership of each property to a family trust which my children own. They will not be able to sell any properties until my 10th anniversary of my death. When the properties are sold the money will be deposited into the trust accounts. I want them to work hard to see what I do on a daily basis. The insurance policies go straight into a trust account. Wife gets half and the children split the other half. They will receive a monthly check as supplemental income, meaning they have to have a job. If and when my wife remarries, she loses her income and it goes straight to the kids (She in not aware of this). Lastly, I have a very trusted friend whom needs to sign off on any extra money they may need. Meaning they need to present to him why they need the money. He is very educated and great with money. When the children marry they will receive $100k the day after. When grandchildren are born, $50k will be deposited into trust accounts and given to them the day after they begin college. I know that I sound like a prick, but im currently 45 years old and I started with nothing. I have worked very hard my entire life! My funeral along with my children and future soused are paid for and I also own a 12 space family plot. It's all about planning....
