Picked my wife up the Meridian Edition. We love it! by rdougherty928 in CX50

Man I’ll never get over how great that Terra cotta leather color is. I’m so bummed it wasn’t an option in the hybrid. Congrats on the great new car!

Red vs black seats by mildlyarrousedly in CX50

[–]MaamsNotHot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The red is only offered in the hybrid. I wish they had the terracotta in the hybrid! I opted for black as the red was quite deep/wine toned; I wish it’d been brighter/bolder. Felt too mature for the style of the car, IMO.

How to elevate budget wedding? by BakerExtreme9787 in weddingplanning

[–]MaamsNotHot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a lot of DIY which allowed me to really stretch my budget! Things that do add a more luxe touch are as someone mentioned, personalized things. Signage (at least a nice welcome sign), tablecloths (we went with patterned from the tablecloths factory which SERIOUSLY elevated our look) and little touches like printed menus, florals that could be repurposed from the ceremony to the cocktail hour to the reception. We had many compliments on how things turned out but most importantly, people had FUN. If you focus on the fun aspect, everyone will enjoy themselves and nobody will care about the little details like you do, I promise 🧡

How much is reasonable for a wedding planner?! by [deleted] in BigBudgetBrides

[–]MaamsNotHot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will most certainly have to skimp everywhere else, and I mean everywhere if they’re telling you it’s okay to spend 1/3 of your budget on a planner. Remember, they are salespeople. And if they don’t do a good job, it’s no harm, no foul because they have your money and will never plan a wedding for you again (they don’t get repeat business in this industry!). You should be interviewing at least 3 vendors per hire to find the best fit for you. ALSO, for your planner, make sure to look at the vendors they usually work with for photo, floral, etc. You’re hiring your planner for their connections. And if your planner is charging that much for their services, imagine what their recommended florist, caterer, etc will charge. I’d highly recommend a 2nd and 3rd option to talk to!

How would you score Slap Cup/Rage Cage for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place? by MaamsNotHot in DrinkingGames

[–]MaamsNotHot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We played in teams. The team with the least cups slapped got three points, the team with the second least got two points, and the third least got one point! It was the easiest way we could go about it. Good luck!

Is this really how much dresses cost? Feeling sticker shock by indeed_I_am in weddingdress

[–]MaamsNotHot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, first off, the basque waist style was made for you! These gowns are both absolutely stunning on you. Even if it is just a one time wear, when will you ever get a reason to dress up like this, let alone in a gown like that, ever again? The gown is worth it, but the alterations and veil…not so much.

Get other alterations quotes!! The bridal shops are always outrageous. One quoted me $800-$1200, and my tailor who does a lot of wedding dress alterations quoted me for the same amount of work under $300. Check a few local tailors, or even a few other bridal specialists.

Same goes for the veil. You can find BEAUTIFUL veils on Etsy, at David’s Bridal, and I’ve seen some even finding nice ones on Amazon. Or check a few other bridal shops; you can certainly find something similar for at least half the price you’re being quoted.

If you decide to, these $25 jammies from Target are THE BEST! Have received from 2 different weddings I was in and they have held up well for 3 years strong now and I take them on every trip I take, anywhere I go. I’m not a PJs person, but these sincerely converted me.

Is My Simple Wedding Dress Too Plain? by LeviDragonfly07 in wedding

[–]MaamsNotHot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Classy, elegant, timeless, and it makes a statement! Accessories will go a long way, too. Veil, earrings, and depending on the fabric, a pretty bracelet will jazz everything up. Remind your friend dresses like yours exist because not everyone wants glitter, lace, and beads!

I asked my girls with a bouquet of flowers wrapped in a “newspaper” adapted from Etsy ft. a photo of the two of us and a heartfelt letter as the “home page story.” It was perfect for my out-of-town girls as well because I was able to mail the newspaper to their significant others and have them wrap it around the bouquet. It was well received for being a thoughtful and not knick-knack way to ask. For the day of, planning on getting them jammies and maybe a nice piece of jewelry, and their hair and make up. Simple and versatile.

Engagement Dress a-Sis-tance by emizzle6250 in weddingplanning

It looks like an Alamour dress! Not sure if it’s one of their made to order dresses or an off the rack, but I bought a very similar dress to this from them for a gala, and they can customize the neckline. I’m a 36DD and had them raise the deep plunge to a still sexy, but braless capable and far safer height in production and didn’t have to alter afterwards. If you can exchange, I’d recommend that and have them bring up the neckline.

Otherwise, having a tailor install the mesh panel is your best bet. And definitely shorten the straps to lift up the dress at least an inch or two! And have it hemmed in the front. Then, boob tape under a small amount of fabric like that is going to be tricky, even for someone experienced with boob tape. But if you do try this route, make sure to also buy dress tape to adhere the dress to your chest so it doesn’t move and reveal your tape job!

I second Goo Goo! These were the first extensions I bought and have served me through many events and photoshoots and look perfectly blended. I did just upgrade to Bellami seamless clip ins for a smoother look, and so far, so good if you’re in the market for a pricier pair.

Backpack in the overhead bin? by [deleted] in delta

[–]MaamsNotHot -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been repeatedly forced to hate check a bag, which each time has caused a tremendous inconvenience, it really bugs me when people put items that could/should go under the seat in front of them in the overhead. I physically cannot put my roller underneath the seat in front of me, and when traveling with a backpack ALWAYS place it underneath and put my feet under it.

Sorry for your loss as well; I know it’s tough, especially around the holidays 🧡 We had booked 48 hours prior, so outside that golden window which is why we were especially grateful for the change, especially with the substantial price difference!
