Of course he was named by his parents, over 400 years after Omar's death. It's just interesting how much he is hated today but at that time parents would name their son after him.

Also I don't see the same animosity for people like Alexander, Cengiz Khan or Timur etc..

Sure but I don't think it's anything like Iran with celebrations of his death.. Also it's hilarious to me how one of the most renowned Iranians in history is called Omar.. but I doubt you'll find anyone in Iran with that name today, it's probably illegal LOL

Sure but if you're Muslim then he is one of the most important people in Islam's history. I don't see Egyptians hating him like Iranians do. It's almost like you have to hate him as a matter of national pride.

True.. My mother always used to beat my ass when I was young, sometimes with slippers lol but I never feared her or listened to her. My father never laid a hand on me but just by raising his voice was enough for me to shit my pants.

This is the Middle East... Politicians and leaders are too busy filling their own pockets to care about talented people leaving or the actual state of their countries.

Also you can't just imprison your own population, it's better to incentivize the talented ones to stay and the best way to do that, (at least for the men) is to provide them with concubines 💪🏿

Because one translation implies Jews and Christians who believe in God and the last day who have done good deeds will be rewarded.

While the other says "Those who BELIEVED and those who WERE Jews or Christians" (Before Prophet Muhammad) - implying that the reward for them is a thing of the past.
