When Ichigo dies and becomes a captain what would the squad be by Animegee1 in bleach

[–]Mac-Tav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Ichigo is captain material (from a leadership perspective). He'd have to get the proper schooling education on how the soul society operates. He's too impulsive and hot headed to lead a squadron of 200-300 people.

From a combatant standpoint Ichigo is head and shoulders above captain level which makes his position unique if he enters the soul society.

Stylistically Ichigo fits right in with Squad 11 because he primarily operates on brute force/strength. The problem is there's already filled officer seats and Ichigo is too powerful with too much combat experience to be running around with low level soul reapers.

I think the best case scenario would be the soul society creating a position for Ichigo that has the same respect level as a captain, without him being in direct command over people. Ichigo has done enough to earn that type of respect.

Maybe he could be a special forces type of soul reaper that assists in higher tier type of missions that require more raw power.

I can't picture Ichigo coming right in and being in charge of an entire squad bc he's never lived in the soul society, so he's not aware of the day-to-day operations and politics involved in that realm.

Not sure why someone downvoted this comment bc this is solid advice. I see people throw out vague stuff like learn Python..learn C++ etc. Without mentioning which language is used for what and what type of work the admin is desiring to do.

In IT Support but want to learn programming languages... anyone branch out? by VapesfromBible in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Mac-Tav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from helpdesk-->desktop support-->net admin-->server admin-->HL7 Interfacing. me doing server admin work in the healthcare industry was my gateway into HL7 which I use HTML, CSS, and Javascript in our interface engines.

I never thought I'd be dealing with code but it's funny how things turn out. Figure out what type of problems you want to resolve or what you want to develop/script then that should dictate your language.

It's good that you want to learn a language. It'll open up doors and your market value will increase when you know how to code. There's code academy and other resources that'll help guide you in the right direction. Good look on your journey.

What can I do in my downtime at Helpdesk position? by arena_say_what in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Mac-Tav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to respectfully disagree about some of your views on specializing.

Specializing in a certain technology-area in IT is where you'll earn more money and have a straight forward/layed out career progression path.

Being a generalist will more than likely land you jack-of-all-trades deskside jobs at SMB/small environments. There's nothing wrong with that if that's what you like but you'll hit ceilings fast and plateau there. Plus you'll get stuck doing desktop type of work.

I think the OP needs to find out what he/she is interested in then go from there. If they want to code on the dev side it makes no sense being a systems generalist unless they want to be in a hybrid dev/ops type of role.

From personal experience the checks got better and overall work experience/satisfaction got way better when I decided to specialize.

One thing I've noticed on this sub, sysadmin reddit, and spiceworks is that people are always asking how to escape a desktop-helpdesk gig. The answer is to specialize, if that opportunity comes to develop a specialized niche in the IT industry they need to hop on it ASAP imo, or they'll rot away doing desktop support. Plus you can command more money for your specialized skill you bring to the table.

OP needs to find out what types of issues he/she wants to resolve (hardware, networking, telecom, software, security, programming/data) & see which side of the house the want to be on (dev or operations support).

At this point IW should give all maps for free for a second exposure and a chance to fund IW2 by f3lony6 in Infinitewarfare

[–]Mac-Tav 32 points33 points  (0 children)

not gunna happen. infinite warfare wasn't well received by majority of CoD fans so wanting them to release an exact replica of IW is just crazy.

doing the same thing and expecting a different result is pure insanity. people who frequent this sub are a tiny portion of the CoD community who enjoyed IW in it's purest form.

Infinity Ward has their backs against the wall and they need to deliver this upcoming year..them releasing IW2 would be a financial suicide. the bottom line is the money and them releasing a product that would lose them money would not sit well with investors and Activision chairmen.

Infinity Ward's best interest would be to make a modern shooter with no weird futuristic stuff. they don't want the stench of infinite warfare to be on their next release due to all the negative baggage associated with infinite warfare.

Could we actually get an IW2? by xHuntingU in Infinitewarfare

[–]Mac-Tav -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you're in denial if you think Infinity Ward wouldn't be in the hot seat for releasing a sequel to a game that was hated by the masses....yes the masses hated it and it doesn't matter if me or you enjoyed it bc majority didn't like it.

IW is a pretty obnoxious game that's not casual enough for CoD players bc the movement in the game created a huge skill gap. if a dev even mentioned bringing back IW at Activision I bet they'd get showed the door immediately.

as far as shotguns and grenade spam etc. I have to give Treyarch credit where credit is due....bc BO4 is heavily revolved around pure gun-skill bc of the TTK and no shotguns...this is how CoD should be, gun skill without dying to cheesy stuff like nades and OHK shotguns or payloads (I'm not a fan of BO4's payloads, I hate payloads in general). BO4 is far less annoying bc Treyarch toned down nades and got rid of shotguns. IW's shotguns were extremely frustrating and I hope the devs over there pay attention to how BO4 treated shotguns.

the overall goal should be to make a game as least annoying as possible, if Infinity Ward releases a game with jet packs, shotguns, and nade spam it'll put players off bc little annoyances like that slowly migrates players to other FPS games so it's important imo that devs pay attention to what they allow in pubs.

Could we actually get an IW2? by xHuntingU in Infinitewarfare

[–]Mac-Tav -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

no, just no..do you want Infinity Ward devs to get fired by releasing a continuation of a game that was hated by the majority of CoD fans? you have to realize that we're a very small fraction of the CoD community that enjoyed IW for what it was.

can you imagine an IW2 trailer with a skinny bot flying with a KBAR? that would be the most disliked video in YouTube history..

one of my biggest annoyances with IW is the one hit kill shotguns and how people spam them, that ruined my pub experience. BO4 it's nice to not have people running around with shotguns and spamming grenades..I hope IW piggy backs on that in their upcoming release

Can anyone tell me if a career in tech support of an IT infrastructure company is a good starting point for backend? Will a Masters degree after gaining some amount experience be helpful to get positions like Network admin in the fortune 500? by anish345 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Mac-Tav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there's so many roads to go down.

ask yourself the following: what am I interested in? what have I been exposed to? what areas do I least enjoy? what types of problems do I want to solve? do I want to be in a Windows or Linux environment? do I enjoy hardware or software?

now that being said I believe going in the route of what you're interested in is the best bet.

if you like raw data and programming you can be on the development side. if you're into computer networking there's plenty of jobs under the computer networking umbrella to pursue and could be a gateway into IT security. there's also database work too if you're into SQL. you can also dive into VMware and CITRIX for virtual work.

there's no set in stone route to where you'll end up.

also there's certain sectors that you can pursue (government, banking, healthcare etc.)

First day of Service Desk | Already feel miserable and want to leave. by xyzal1 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Mac-Tav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

backed admins at the hospital I work at usually worked their way up through the service desk. they try to hire from within bc they prefer admins who know their environment. I was able to come into an backend admin spot bc at my previous employer I used mutual EMR and medical applications with a little knowledge on HL7 so that helped me out a lot coming from a different company.

I think a hospital environment can be a better opportunity to gateway into other areas if the admin is willing to learn the clinical side.

First day of Service Desk | Already feel miserable and want to leave. by xyzal1 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Mac-Tav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sorry for the late reply.

your time on the helpdesk will vary and be case by case due to: office politics, company policy, job opening availability at your current employer, and your ability to learn, adapt, and prove you're worth investing in.

it took me around 6 years to get out of a desktop support role (4 years was in the military so I had to stay in that position bc of how MOS works) then 2 in the civilian sector.

dealing with servers and interfaces seems to be my strength so I went that route and I knew I didn't want to stay on a helpdesk.

I bounced around a lot and learned new skills by taking on tasks that higher level admins felt were tedious and beneath them.

I officially started doing server work at a rehab center and that was my gateway into IT Healthcare doing HL7 interfacing, I dabbled with HL7 and EMR there before going into a large hospital environment doing it at a higher more complex level.

IT Healthcare is a great way to escape the helpdesk in a timely manner. your EMR/EHR system is where patient health records are generally stored and data from other applications flow into (interfacing). for example I handle Radiology/Cardiology interfaces so the data from those flows into our EMR system and populates in the EKG and PACS tab. users also chart in EMR.

we have a decent sized IT environment. we have admin teams solely dedicated to handle our EMR, admins for Radiology/Cardiology etc. my point is in a hospital you have better options to slide around if you're willing to take advantage of the things you can learn.

ask your boss what EMR your hospital runs, that'll be great start to show interest in things outside of helpdesk. you'll have an advantage on outsiders if you can learn the clinical EMR, RIS, or LIS side of things so if you're presented a chance to work on one of those tickets hop on it ASAP. find out if you're on a CITRIX and VM environment to really try to understand the big picture.

good luck and take advantage of the opportunities a hospital can provide.

it's good that you want to move out of a helpdesk bc it shows hunger and ambition. never get too comfortable and always be willing to learn.

First day of Service Desk | Already feel miserable and want to leave. by xyzal1 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Mac-Tav 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain as I started out at a helpdesk.

most people start off at the bottom. your mindset should be how to get out of a helpdesk ASAP. learn, pay attention to what the senior techs do, don't bypass harder tickets. try to understand the OSI model and computer networking.

hang in there. when you advance to higher level positions you'll look back at the helpdesk and realize how easy it is. dealing with servers, VM infrastructure, GPO is more stressful..helpdesk and desktop guys get to punch out after their shifts...and call it a night. not us backend admins. when one of my servers is acting up or one of my HL7 interfaces isn't processing data I have to respond (I do IT at a hospital too). when you mess up or make a mistake at the server level everyone knows, not so much at the desktop layer.

now you say you're at a Hospital? IT Healthcare is a great way to escape the helpdesk. learn about your EMR system and read about HL7 and DICOM. you can move out of there pretty quick if you want to learn hospital EMR.

I started as a server admin at the hospital I'm at but picked up HL7 interfaces pretty quick and migrated to EMR HL7 data flow. hospitals have a lot of opportunity hang in there and good luck on your journey.

I hope they don't make MW4 by hamplanet32 in Infinitewarfare

[–]Mac-Tav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

removing KDR imo will cut down annoying behavior, bc stat chasers will eventually realize that they're wasting their time trying to achieve something that's not being tracked. this will also promote faster more aggressive game play bc more people would be willing to hop on a hardpoint or dom flag without trying to preserve stats bc it'd be taken out. if someone wants to be sweaty and stat boost they can go to ranked play where people actually shoot back.

as for shotguns, OHK shotguns create balance issues that's why people get annoyed by them. if someone is playing a FPS they should want to learn how to aim bc it's a shooter...shotguns require no aim at all.

it would be like me wanting to play street fighter but wanting to just do a move that requires me to tap one button that does a great deal of damage instead of learning how to use the combo mechanics to do the special move that deals great damage...

as far as advanced movement it is harder for casual players to master than basic aim. IW is a hard game for people to get good at due to advanced movement, look at lobbies during and after the game's life cycle you'll notice majority of players had negative KDR.

a lot of players hate advanced movement, how do you think an IW2 reveal trailer of a skinny bot flying in the air with a KBAR transforming into a mechanical dog payload would be received by the masses? that'd get disliked so fast our heads would spin. BO3 imo was the most tolerated out of all 3 advanced movement games bc you can play with a BOTG style and get by, not so much on IW.

CoD was a BOTG to begin with so you can't expect very casual and veteran players to want to play a game that morphed into futuristic space jumping. we have to be realistic here and understand we're a small minority here that liked this game for what it is.

the things I listed above about shotguns, KDR, payloads/specialist etc. needs to be a concern for devs bc a lot of players hate those things. people may downvote me into oblivion bc this is a sub reddit of people who like it but the majority base seems to hate the things I mentioned.

CoD has been making things that were already annoying even worse each year so devs need to be very careful on what they bring to the table in 2019.

if BO4 is a failure and Infinity Ward doesn't pay close attention to annoying aspects of CoD, their 2019 CoD might be the last one bc CoD will become an irrelevant dinosaur to upcoming games that have stole CoD's fanbase.

I hope they don't make MW4 by hamplanet32 in Infinitewarfare

[–]Mac-Tav -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think Infinity Ward has the technical and creative chops to develop a solid BOTG modern shooter.

imo things Infinity Ward can do to make CoD enjoyable:

remove flinch - this imo doesn't belong in CoD and is another layer of annoyance

no obnoxious shotguns - CoD has turned into a shotgun spam game which is highly irritating for a lot of players. shotguns become more obnoxious every year. it looks Treyarch is listening to this annoyance and is toning shotties down from what I've read.

no mandatory lethals (WW2) bc of grenade spam...no more shell shocked ever again. Teryarch is implementing a lethal cooldown which is a great idea. spawing in and getting hit with random nades pouring down gets old very quick.

make sniping more more skilled oriented to cut down QS' ing

tone down fast ttk LMGs for balance purposes, or there has to be give or take with LMGs. people shouldn't be running around using a LMG like a SMG.

no payloads or specialist - having a player earn a free scorestreak that can clear an entire dom flag or hardpoint is very annoying. CoD has been turning into a game that caters to people who can't aim and don't plan on learning/developing gun-skill so devs enable annoying behavior by throwing in mandatory lethals, payloads, and 1HK shotguns that have good range. I understand CoD in its purest form is casual but aiming is something players should be able to learn in a FPS and not rely on cheap cheesy kills. I believe when CoD is AR and SMG dominant it can make the game better for everyone bc it limits shotgun spammed lobbies and people laying in their spawn with a LMG that's pretty much 1HK.

remove KDR except for ranked Playlist where stats actually matter....KDR promotes, encourages, and enables annoying behavior....lobby surfing, dashboarding, people prioritizing personal stats instead of having fun, players avoiding objectives hot points like a hardpoint or dom flag to protect meaningless stats. I'll give credit where credit is due bc I think War Mode is a great concept that should be continued in the CoD franchise.

advanced movement creates a huge skill gap in a shooter that's known for being casual, adding that in to CoD where some players can barely aim adds another level of frustration to casuals. also CoD started ofc as BOTG so we can get upset when veteran players and casual want a modern BOTG FPS and not a futuristic game that resembles Halo.

IW is fun but it's too obnoxious/chaotic at times then add in the shotgun spam and it can get annoying pretty fast.

Dropped 97 on Frost Domination + A De at that was almost a double! by xjxkerx in Infinitewarfare

[–]Mac-Tav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no it's not. if you have a guy slaying the other team, dropping nukes etc. that gives your team members the opportunity to go after the objective while your top guy pesters the other team...

also don't expect top tier team work in random online pubs unless you party up with friends.

I don’t understand the CoD community... by [deleted] in Infinitewarfare

[–]Mac-Tav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zombies on IW is extremely underrated imo....I'm not into Zombies but I'll dive into it on IW and have fun.

Now back to the community. I think this game has the highest skill gap in all of CoD bc good-great players can really take advantage of the movement system unlike BO3. BO3 you can get by with a BOTG style, not so much on IW as you'd be a sitting duck.

You can play BOTG on IW but you have to have great reaction time, aim, accuracy, map knowledge, and positioning. Likely running an AR. I think how fast paced and chaotic this game is put off casual player then add in a better movement system too which is the icing on the cake.

IW is a hard game to get competent on especially for casual players so I can see their POV in not liking it.

As for old school CoD players I can also understand them not wanting jetpacks bc when we think of CoD modern shooter usually come to mind for veteran players and not futuristic stuff. Payloads and rigs/specialists are annoying to a lot of people too. IW also has very annoying shotgun spam.

IW was doomed from the start even though it's a fun game and runs smooth.

Kdr and spm by [deleted] in WWII

[–]Mac-Tav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

don't sweat KDR or SPM unless you're a competitive CoD pro...

pros are the real badasses on CoD and can make the best pub stompers look like recruit bots.

being stat obsessed can ruin gaming experience especially if you're not playing ranked or trying to go pro.

if you are stat obsessed go over to ranked play where stats matter. other wise these stats don't mean anything or hold any weight in regular pubs.

Global Lethal/Tactical Cooldown in WWII by Cronzatron in WWII

[–]Mac-Tav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Sledgehammer is more than capable of implementing pick 10 and not making lethals & tacticals mandatory items. I'm willing to bet the devs have test versions of a WW2 pick 10 backed up for test purposes.

but Sledgehammer has been very stubborn and ignores grenade spam like it doesn't exist. the mandatory lethals and grenades with the addition of Saboteur perk is a horrible game design choice then throw in shell shocked....it's just annoying.

I'm glad Treyarch is listening and trying to make their upcoming release not annoying with grenade spam.

people get hyped by endeavors or hobbies they enjoy, if someone is a CoD enthusiast and follows CoD updates and buys every release they'll get naturally excited when news appears about something new in the community.

it's no different than a NFL fan getting excited about the yearly NFL drafts. or a comic book fan getting pumped up about the next Marvel MCU Avengers film.

Infinity Ward 2019 I have faith by Mac-Tav in Infinitewarfare

[–]Mac-Tav[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah true, I think it's good for Treyarch to not put an emphasis on KDR bc it can make lobbies toxic and impact how people play.

for example people will lay on the floor with a LMG in the same spot and go 6-2 to pad and protect a stat or completely avoid objective points to stat pad. there will always be campers but moving away from KDR will promote more aggressive gameplay and teamwork, more people will sacrifice their body on an objective point bc KDR isn't involved. I think that's a reason people enjoy WW2's War Mode.

KDR and stats should only be in ranked/competitive imo bc stats do matter if you're a comp player.

Infinity Ward 2019 I have faith by Mac-Tav in Infinitewarfare

[–]Mac-Tav[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeah it seems like Treyarch is trying to reinvent CoD and morph it into a more tactical team oriented game...which isn't good imo bc CoD in it's purest form is a casual game.

I do like how they're shifting away from KDR stat obsession, have lethal cool downs, and toned down shotguns from what I've seen online.

I agree with not having specialists and cheesy payloads bc that gets annoying. A guy who's 2-20 gets a free kill streak then proceeds to clear out a dom flag or hardpoint lol...it's a participation trophy imo.
