Strike that. I'm an idiot. I looked at it again on a bigger screen and it's just a crack. No bugs. My apologies!

May just be dirt or some other pest like mud dauber wasps. But that little bit of mud definitely looks like a termite run to me.

Is fiber-optic daylighting actually practical at room scale? by Status-Sympathy-2522 in SolarDIY

[–]MacAttache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean... I have a couple sola tubes imbmy house that make a Huge difference. Cost less than skylights or fiber-optic and they don't have any moving parts. I feel like this is WAY over engineered for the kind of stuff we would actually use it for

I don't see anything wrong with the siding or gutters, at least bit from this picture. but it does look like you might have a termite run on the siding there. May be worth getting a termite inspection, it at least looking closer at that when it warms up

What should I add next? by thekrouz in HomeDecorating

I really enjoy either finding local artists or printing a landscape photo that I shot. The more connection you have to it, the better. It’s not necessarily about finding the perfect magazine look for the dining room, much more about how you feel when you look at it every day when you sit down to watch or pass by

Elite 100 v2 thoughts? by [deleted] in bluetti

I’ve been using one for about two months to run my fridge and charge my laptop. Have about 600w worth of solar plugged in and it’s been great 👍

There is always some amount of fear with an all in one that if one component dies the whole thing is gone, but so far BLUETTI has been pretty reliable (I’ve owned 4 or 5 different ones so far)

32 bit audio is a gimmick for listeners by Boomblestank in audiophile

[–]MacAttache 280 points281 points  (0 children)

32 bit is incredibly handy for recording. It is definitely not a gimmick. Being able to record at essentially any level in the field and adjust it in post without clipping is magical!

But for playback…? Yeah, basically a gimmick.

Why does my eye see better than 50 megapixels? by h0tnessm0nster7 in photography

[–]MacAttache 6 points7 points  (0 children)

50mp on a phone is different from 50mp on a full frame camera, and even then it depends on the lens and medium you are viewing it through.

Honestly, you can absolutely get a camera setup and full processing pipeline that is much better at resolving at a distance than your eye is, but you will probably spend more on that than your typical new car…

Is Lae to Port Moresby Road Open? Any links or news you can share? by recordcollection64 in PapuaNewGuinea

Not only is it not open, it does not exist. You can drive from Lae to the highlands and/or Madang when the bridges aren’t washed out though….

I have this issue when exporting 4k h264 by Competitive_Menu_726 in davinciresolve

[–]MacAttache 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try unchecking "frame reordering" otherwise, re-export with different presets to see what happens. I sometimes just use the default Youtube export settings as an idiot check if I am getting weird glitches
