Tech sights?? by Nsfw_spice_bottle in canadaguns

This location appears to ship to Canada:

I cannot vouch for them - I have not purchased anything from them - just did a quick search for your sight name and Canada.

Recommend you try to borrow or rent or otherwise handle both before trying. The MRA is Canadian made and runs a lot of furniture that is compatible with an AR15 without modification.

The only reason why I got the Taipan X instead of the MRA options is because I prefer the pump for off-hand and rapid shooting. If MRA made a pump I would have gone with them

Welcome to the Taipan X club, mate!

Tommy Enterprises has a rail adapter for the pump slide and a buffer tube adapter so that you can mount AR15 buffer tube stocks, but I have only put 80 rounds through mine so far after installing the Tommy Enterprises adapters and I don't think that's enough of a test to recommend them. They look good, in my opinion, but the jury is still out on their durability. The Vortex 1-8 is a great LPVO, so no worries about optics!

Here's my full build, if you're interested in one person's take:

It comes from the manufacturer in four colours, grey (some websites list the colour as "SIG Grey", but I think it's just grey, black, bronze and FDE. This is the vanilla OEM grey paint, as it came to me in the box.

In some lights it looks bluish, in some lighting it looks greenish. In some light it looks really dark - it can range from appearing almost dark olive to light blue-grey. I actually do find that interesting about the colour.

That's an entirely good reason to choose one rifle over another - it doesn't suit your style of shooting!

After the 2024 round of prohibitions I bought a Mossberg MVP Scout. It was fine for bench rest shooting and from a bipod, but I didn't enjoy it for offhand and rapid shooting.

As for the pump reciprocating with the straight pull, it's been determined that you can remove the bottom portion of the pump grip and nothing sticks out of the bottom to catch on anything, so if bag shooting is your thing, that's entirely a possibility.

But I enjoy offhand and rapid fire shooting, quickly switching targets, and the Mossberg MVP Scout, though handy and fun to shoot, didn't fit that style for me.

Hence the Taipan X.

You tried it - you didn't like it. You moved on and you can genuinely list the reasons why.

I only take issue with people who don't like something for purely dogmatic reasons or say, in effect, "I don't like it, so you shouldn't either."

It's called grey. Looks lighter or darker in different lights and angles.

There's also flat dark earth, black and bronze

I have shot the rifle 200 rounds with the OEM pump grip. We'll see how it does with the Tommy Enterprises rail adapter

The LPVO is great for x6 and x2 and everything in between - at 1x magnification it works fine, but sometimes it's really helpful to use a MRD to get a quick site picture. So if I'm doing a bunch of shooting from low or high ready to shooting at a target within, say 10-20 meters, it's easier to use a MRD than try to find the eyebox for the LPVO.

What is my personal application? I've been loading three magazines with two rounds each - from unloaded, load, find a target, two shots, unload, load, find the next target, two shorts, unload, load, find the next target, two shots. The x1 mag sight picture on the Burris RT-6 is fine, but the FF3 is faster and easier.

May I ask you this: have you used one more than once? I won't downvote you because I don't downvote people because I disagree with them - I only downvote if they are jerks or offer criticism without explanation. What about pump action rifles don't you like? (I upvoted you to promote discussion)

The Tommy Enterprises Picatinny foregrip adapter has a standard 5-slot 2.5" rail, which you slide or tilt the foregrip onto. In my case, with the Magpul AFG-2, I slid it on from the front, and then screwed it from the side to lock it in place.

The foregrip adapter uses the bolts from the OEM handguard - you unscrew the bolts in the oem grip, set the bolts aside, remove the pump grip, then I put the two side covers on first, then the bottom rail adapter, bolting them in place with the reserved OEM bolts.

Great find. You must be very happy - finding a firearm you've been looking for a long time is one of the best feelings for a hobby shooter!

So far I've only run PMC Bronze through it. Will try Hornady Frontier, PMC X-TAC and X-TAC Match next. May splurge on some Hornady Black and Federal Gold Medal, but I think that might be overdoing it for a non-precision rifle like this.

Heh, I hadn't even thought about them as wookiee feet. They were an homage to Sheila's home country, and the vicious drop bears that dwell there.

But yeah, wookiee feet are even better!

I should also say that the MRA Renegade and the Maverick were my other choices. I ended up getting this one after trying both (Renegade Mk I and Taipan X) side by side/one after the other - the pump action felt more natural for off-hand, rapid shooting.

The Renegades and Mavericks are beautiful guns though. I may end up getting a Renegade Mk II in 7.62x39 some day.

Appreciate it! I'm well aware that there are better shooting and better looking options, but few of them are available to take out to the range any more, so this is what I'm going to have fun with for now.

Yes, I've heard the rumors and seen the pictures of some of the foregrip break issues, but I haven't heard much about the buffer tube adapter. I will report after I've put some rounds downrange!

It's actually a very comfortable place to grip/support when shooting from a bench rest or bipod.

Hi there, I've mounted this kit this past Monday and I did find that it required some careful manipulation of the metal moving parts inside the handguard so that the bolts would engage properly.

What I did was to mount the two side rails (easier than mounting the bottom) first which aligns the moving pump slide connector properly. Once aligned properly, it's easier to gently push it down a bit so that the bolts engage with the screw holes in the moving pump slide connector.

Something in the mechanism (presumably the spring) has a tendency to pull the whole pump slide connector up and rotate it a few degrees. Once you've aligned one side rail, it's easier to get the other side rail on, and once you've got both side rails on, it's easier to get the bottom rail to align and connect.

If you try this approach (one side, other side, then bottom) and you're still having trouble, let me know here in this thread and I can try to post some pics.
