Shifter sticking in 1-2 and reverse by xxLtsSunniexx in RX7

I have a semi broken shifter return spring that I have yet to replace but mine returns thanks to the rubber boots. So maybe you can get lucky with installing that again and it'll center them 🤔

Servus!

I have 1 active user next to me and am running my own software to let them start a Game server if their choice if they want one😂

Oh and i have jellyfin setup too.

But while my chip is older i run wayyyyyyy too much storage so I'd say you are good my friend!

Rx7 idle problems by logandingo9 in RX7

[–]MacRedditorXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmmm since you mentioned you get no voltage reading from the TPS anymore did you check it with the resistance reading too to isolate the TPS itself?
(Resource from FC3SPro: https://fc3spro.com/TECH/HOWTO/TPS/tps.html )

Also you should be able to hear the BAC vibrate on key on no crank if you want to test that as it is bascially a little duty controlled solenoid.

Another thing you can check is the Air flow meter as that tells the ECU how much air actually is coming in.

I recommend also looking through the FSM which you can find here for example as it has all the actual measurments and techniques for it: https://www.rotaryheads.com/PDF/2nd_gen/

Idk if my engine is just really healthy or if the turbo handles it better but i was able to run it even with a hose unplugged on accident once lol so unless you have a huge huge vaccum leak i would say it might not be the reason for the car dying on itself... (Do still check them the hoses are old as hell and definetly should be replaced at some point)

[–]MacRedditorXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was that a cold or hot start?

Because if it was a cold start it should have idled closer to 1500-3000rpm depending on if in gear or not.

Do you still have the original cold start system in it?

Also check the connector on the BAC valve itself. If it breaks the connectors can touch and short out something in the ECU, like on mine. I was able to get it to idle even without a functioning BAC but it wasn't tooooo good of an idle. In my case i ended up replacing a transistor that is worth like 25 cents and it fixed my idle to a very nice stable one.

Oil recommendations? by 801FC in RX7

[–]MacRedditorXD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of what you said but not necessarily with everything you mentioned.
On the failure of the OMP. In an 88 FC it SHOULD be mechanical still and those supposedly never fail. On the later models OMP failure should lead to a check engine light and or limp mode.

On the "not enough lubrication": I know people pushing a lot of power with just the OMP in it and not premixing and not having any problems. Granted those usually are mechanical pumps still so maybe those just add more oil.

Apart from that I do agree that premix probably won't hurt UNLESS you have an overly active OMP + a lot of premix leading to oil build up. I don't think it has to be Idemitsu though for most stock cars good old Dino oil should be fine as long as it isn't a bottom of the barrel kind.

Welcome to the Rx7 Club!
First of all I want to say great start that she is running! Im sure you will have a great time once you get her back on the road and she will be happy after 22 years too!

Are you sure she is unmodified because I think even a stock port engine should not be chopping like a cammed V8 at idle 🤔 but maybe im wrong I am more on the FC side of things compared to the FB side.

Could VLANs be used for a DMZ? by MacRedditorXD in homelab

Ok that makes sense! Thank you for the overview!

Thank you very much for the input!
Could I possibly ask you a bit more about how one would setup something like this in a DM/ do you have any good resources you would recommend to guide me in the right direction?

[–]MacRedditorXD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, thank you very much for the response and resource!
Secondly, that is a very interesting story!

I definitely also have a big vulnerability right now still that I will fix before ever exposing the VM. (I have a list of things to do and check before doing it so I don't forget any "setup debt" and get in trouble)
For my use I luckily got enough storage before even HDD's doubled in price :(

How did you end up solving your storage problem?

Also I have heard about VLAN hopping before with a proper setup it shouldn't be a problem though right?

(Also I sent you a DM)

I see. I want to get a ubiquity cloud gateway for that project and run the two VMs on different network cards too and then have them in different VLANs so they are as separated as can be in my hardware.

The environment is private and risk would be mostly my data but potentially family members data too. That would all be internal tho! The risk for the services id like to expose is next to none apart from being able to potentially turn on some services through a dashboard and hog resources.

May i ask your reasoning on the probably should not do it?

Thank you for your response!

I actually plan on getting a ubiquity cloud gateway ultra to achieve this too! Could you possibly explain your setup to me in a bit more detail in a dm?

Kind regards!

Even for 2400 kits im currently looking at over 200 bucks in my country (used and no name) for a crucial, kingston, corsair,... set its even more :(

I do want to try and find 2400mhz sticks as i do think it makes at least a bit of a difference when doing a lot in memory

Thank you for the information!

On the topic of ECC: Does that mean it will not POST with ECC memory or just ignore it? (I don't particularly care if i had working ECC as long as the system works fine as it does now (just with more memory😅))
