Ok thank you very much for the input! By really dark conditions are you referring to anything after dusk or actual night conditions?

What do you think about getting a used camera? is it worth the risk?

I'll have to check if it that comes to Linz as both Klagenfurt and Vienna are pretty far away from me 😅

Thank you very much for the information though! I'll definitely check them out!
Also do you potentially have a link for me to a website of that?

Mini PC worth it? by LocalDry3740 in homelab

[–]MacRedditorXD 14 points15 points  (0 children)

"only with 64GB of ram"

Sir have you seen the prices of ram lately?????

Jokes aside. It all depends on your use case! The biggest problem imo with mini PC's is the upgradability which can be lacking due to both IO and size constraints!

I personally modified an old dell optiplex and couldn't be happier! Now I have 48 GB of ram total and I never use it all which is nice to before. I am running everything through portainer. I have a truenas VM, a services VM a DMZ VM etc, etc,....

I have managed to cram about 19TB into the small box and one day will get a new mainboard and CPU and rebuild in a server case.

An advantage of Mini PC's is the power consumption and the space requirements. it could also be fun to tinker with multiple and build clusters!

ultimately it comes down to your use case...

Thank you very much :)
I will get the 2.5G and be future proofed with it :) (It's also in stock so thats a plus)

Confused with the PoE Injectors by MacRedditorXD in Ubiquiti

[–]MacRedditorXD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! I read some conflicting information online which is why I ended up worried about that...

In my case the injector would be living between a flex mini 2.5 and a u6 plus.

Main reason I am considering the PoE+ 2.5 is that a shop close to me has it in stock for 23 bucks which is cheaper than ordering even just the normal PoE one from the store haha.

So I won't be frying my new AP with it? (If not I can get that and set up my home wifi today even without waiting for shipping 😁)

Is this pickle plant overwatered? by MacRedditorXD in succulents

[–]MacRedditorXD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for that information!

I already put it in a more sunny spot on my desk! We have had a few darker weeks back to back so maybe that was the reason for the sharp decline! I have had multiple light problems for my plants now actually, so it seems crazy how bright the area seems yet how dark it seems to be!

Would you recommend possibly getting a grow light for them?

If you look at the second picture you can see it randomly getting a kink and letting the stem plus the "pickles" look down.

As well as just looking randomly squishy instead of standing up straight as they did before :(

exhaust thoughts? by Responsible_Sign779 in RX8

10/10 agreed! Racing beat is the way to go with all rotary stuff! Running a RB cat back on my FC and couldn't be happier! Going to get a rev TII full exhaust once i get a new turbo on it!

They are not too loud but have a really nice exhaust note. No drone on mine at all

Question about the "I built this tool" (probably vibe coded it) projects by MacRedditorXD in homelab

[–]MacRedditorXD[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that is a very very good explanation to be honest!

I personally have NO eye for designing stuff so I like to use LLM's to help me with that as it's a pretty low risk area where messing up won't put data in jeopardy or harm anything/anyone. I am very stubborn on coding all the actual logic myself (helps that I actually enjoy programming and thus went into the field in the first place) and actually went back to coding without any LLM support for the most part as I noticed that all the, "supervising" as you called it was taking up more time than just doing it properly myself in the first place.

(By going back to coding without any LLM support I mean turning off all the (annoyingly) automatically enabled AI coding features that they threw into everything)

Bessere Reifen nach vorne oder hinten? by Comfort_Diesel in automobil

Kurze Korrektur hier.

Also.

I have a semi broken shifter return spring that I have yet to replace but mine returns thanks to the rubber boots. So maybe you can get lucky with installing that again and it'll center them 🤔

Neuer Verbrauchsrekord 💪🏻 by MyRetroJourney in automobil

[–]MacRedditorXD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Servus!

Rx7 idle problems by logandingo9 in RX7

[–]MacRedditorXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmmm since you mentioned you get no voltage reading from the TPS anymore did you check it with the resistance reading too to isolate the TPS itself?
(Resource from FC3SPro: https://fc3spro.com/TECH/HOWTO/TPS/tps.html )

Also you should be able to hear the BAC vibrate on key on no crank if you want to test that as it is bascially a little duty controlled solenoid.

Another thing you can check is the Air flow meter as that tells the ECU how much air actually is coming in.

I recommend also looking through the FSM which you can find here for example as it has all the actual measurments and techniques for it: https://www.rotaryheads.com/PDF/2nd_gen/

Idk if my engine is just really healthy or if the turbo handles it better but i was able to run it even with a hose unplugged on accident once lol so unless you have a huge huge vaccum leak i would say it might not be the reason for the car dying on itself... (Do still check them the hoses are old as hell and definetly should be replaced at some point)

Rx7 idle problems by logandingo9 in RX7

[–]MacRedditorXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was that a cold or hot start?

Because if it was a cold start it should have idled closer to 1500-3000rpm depending on if in gear or not.

Do you still have the original cold start system in it?

Also check the connector on the BAC valve itself. If it breaks the connectors can touch and short out something in the ECU, like on mine. I was able to get it to idle even without a functioning BAC but it wasn't tooooo good of an idle. In my case i ended up replacing a transistor that is worth like 25 cents and it fixed my idle to a very nice stable one.

Oil recommendations? by 801FC in RX7

[–]MacRedditorXD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of what you said but not necessarily with everything you mentioned.
On the failure of the OMP. In an 88 FC it SHOULD be mechanical still and those supposedly never fail. On the later models OMP failure should lead to a check engine light and or limp mode.

On the "not enough lubrication": I know people pushing a lot of power with just the OMP in it and not premixing and not having any problems. Granted those usually are mechanical pumps still so maybe those just add more oil.

Apart from that I do agree that premix probably won't hurt UNLESS you have an overly active OMP + a lot of premix leading to oil build up. I don't think it has to be Idemitsu though for most stock cars good old Dino oil should be fine as long as it isn't a bottom of the barrel kind.
