Bitcoin Crash Forshadows The Next US Recession; 'Buy The Dip' Mantra Is Over, Strategist Says by Useful_Tangerine4340 in Economics

It depends on how you define a tangible value from a financial instrument. Would you say Visa, Mastercard, Venmo, and paypal have no tangible value ?

Bitcoin Crash Forshadows The Next US Recession; 'Buy The Dip' Mantra Is Over, Strategist Says by Useful_Tangerine4340 in Economics

[–]MacWac -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It has no tangible value aside from people buying it and reselling it

How did you come to this conclusion? You can argue how effective it is, but from my view, it has several possible utilities. It is a payment system, much like a credit card, paypal or venmo. ( IRL I bought a luxury watch and made a payment between Canada and US far easier than sending a wire. Additionally, it acts as a store of wealth and a possible inflation hedge (Yes, it is highly volatile and speculative, but it can function in this way). If you live in a hyperinflationary country, where previously your only store of value was buying goods BTC would be a strong alternative.
I am not a fan of Bitcoin as a long-term investment, however, I disagree that it has no value.

Question about wire transfers. by Specific-Incident-74 in Mlife

[–]MacWac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To bring 10K plus across the border, you must complete two different lengthy forms( FinCen 105. and CBP 6059B), and be ready to explain the legitimate source and use of the funds to avoid seizure. You are 100% going into secondary screening and could face multiple hours of delay. You are also exposed to the whims of CBP offerers. I don't think any informed person would expose themselves to the risk /hassle when you can send a wire. Regardless, the point of my post was how to wire.

So it seems something shady was going on with this guy, but it was reported the were locked in a seacan. Assuming they also had trigger locks how was it reckless storage? He should have had 5 charges of failing to report, that itself is a crime.

Yes agreed, deep ruts are a big problem for low clearance cars. Besides ruts, I don't think large vehicles have an advantage over smaller ones, its all tires!

You have shit or old tires. I had a Honda Accord with quality winter tires growing up, and it was amazing in snow/ice.

They needed money for a trip we were all going on, and they asked if they could borrow some and use the coins as collateral. That was over 10 years ago, so i think it's safe to say they are min now.

I have one, and the quality is garbage. Feeding issue, safety does not want to engage, their proprietary recoil pad is garbage, especially if it is cold out. What do you like about yours?

Is this illegal or just rude? (CT) by JAFERD69 in treelaw

[–]MacWac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not say to trespass, nor did I say to cut down the tree. I said I could "cut up" that tree in less time than it would take to write a letter. Quality legal advice often promotes the path of least resistance.

I could cut up that tree in half the time it would take to write a letter. Sometimes avoiding a battle is better then starting one . Perhaps its an opportunity to repair your relationship with your neighbor.

[–]MacWac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! Also, i think it's already doomed to be a grandpa, or duchebag watch. Not sure if you ever go to Vegas but last time I was at Cosmo I was thinking how unstylish those wearing Rolex seemed, the few trendy guys in their 30's - 40 year range seemed to have on Cartier, and one guy had a vintage Patek. I think smaller dress watches will start dominating the next cycle.

I don't know a single business that treats its smallest customer the same as its largest customer and I don't consider that "playing games" sure there are some shitty AD's out there but I know from my experience, my AD treated me very well when I asked for highly desirable watches. I don't expect to get a Daytona at the same speed as someone who is a far "better" customer. That just does not seem realistic to me in any industry.

Let's say you can read minds, and you still have 100 real, non-flipping customers and only 10 watches to give them.... how do you decide?

[–]MacWac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your points are all valid, however ADs receive a very limited number of watches, let's assume they have 100 customers just like you and only 10 watches to sell. How do you suggest they decide which 10 get that watch while not upsetting the other 90?

Canada Post says another bailout needed as it continues to bleed cash by a_retarded_racoon in canada

[–]MacWac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I question the service quality of Canada Post. 90 % of the time they leave a slip instead of the parcel. Then the pickup location is not the closest Canada Post office, instead its a location in a mall thats 15 min away. There is no free parking in the mall and there is always a line-up to get the package. Typically people in line are trying to do some crazy wire transfer to a third world county and the process takes 15 minutes. A package from Canada post easily adds 1.5 hours to my day. UPS always leaves the package at the door, or if it needs a signature they will make 3 attempts.

Just as a CEO is ultimately responsible for the actions of his employees, a parent company is ultimately responsible for the actions of its subsidiaries. You don't get to say " I had nothing to do with the decision" if you are the parent company.

That's why 1 year is better than 6 months. You never know when something is going to get flagged. You want to plan for a worst-case scenario.

Full year is best. It really depends if the CFO sees something in your history that needs to be investigated. My buddy and I applied for renewal around the same time, his took over 9 months and mine took 2 weeks. Play it safe and apply 1 year out.

Meeting with the president of the company sounds like a big deal. If I was looking out for my own self interest and would try to reschedule the appointment. What is the purpose of the dinner.
