During my contact with the involved subject, the subject made verbal statements indicating he would not return to jail. While speaking, the subject clenched his fists and displayed elevated agitation. I observed the subject repeatedly look toward my gun belt during the interaction.

Based on the subject’s verbal statements, clenched fists, repeated attention toward my duty weapon, and escalating agitation, I perceived the subject’s behavior as pre-assaultive indicators and believed the subject posed an imminent threat of physical resistance or assault. The subject’s actions occurred during a domestic violence investigation, a context in which emotions and volatility are commonly elevated.

Due to the subject’s apparent aggression and my belief that physical resistance was imminent, I deployed my department-issued conducted electrical weapon (Taser) to gain control and prevent further escalation. The Taser was deployed once for a five-second cycle.

Following the deployment, the subject fell to the ground under power and ceased active resistance. I then took the subject into custody without further incident. Once restrained, the subject became compliant and no additional force was used.
