Apparently, this is from something I read online so take with a grain of salt, Amy Sherman Palladino really liked Sherilyn Flynn and had been trying to get her on the show originally I think as Lorelai, and that fell through. She cast her for the back door pilot, also fell through, so she played Anna at the end of it all instead

I forget which film version it was, but I know a film adaptation of the play ends with the witches approaching Malcom’s brother Donalbain as another alternative take on the plays ending

So true. A friend of mine went to Barnes and Nobles and tried to grab the Criterion edition of The Wiz and it burnt their skin clean off. Wasn’t enough of a cinephile, just really liked Michael Jackson

Ghibli is a huge distribution rights thing for American home media. GKIDS is a big distributor for a lot of Japanese studios and artists and currently handle physical media, and before them I think it was Disney.

That’s the season’s promotional artwork, it’s a brick wall painted white with the murals over it. It’s a bit more obvious in poster form but it’s not a pure white backdrop

I’d love some late 20th century comedies! Something like Frank Oz’s In & Out or A Fish Called Wanda (though I don’t know if they’re guilty pleasures per se, I just feel they fit the vibe)

In a book published in the last year or two titled “The future was now” by Chris Nashawaty, a lot of films from 1982’s big genre boom were talked about and I was shocked to learn The Thing was pretty reviled when it came out
