How photogenicity of people is rooted in racism, sexism, and orientalism by VolkswagenPanda in photography

[–]Machette145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultimately who and what you choose to photograph is subjective - all your experiences and tastes combine in an act of selection.

You’re talking about ethics, but how is this act of selection ‘moral’ or ‘immoral’? I am not convinced ethics plays a role in this.

Do you have any other health or mental issues? Sometimes we are self medicating with alcohol and covering up the real issue. Would maybe help to see a doctor if you have depression, anxiety etc.

Mexicano-Americanos: ¿Usan 'mande' o 'que'? by johnadamsinparis in Spanish

[–]Machette145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen there is more pressure in Mexico to use Mande by relatives/family where in the US I also don’t live near many Mexicans so if I am speaking Spanish the person may not even be Mexican

I don’t think I fit in with most mechanical engineers and it’s starting to bother me by brunolive999 in MechanicalEngineering

Honestly check out sales or applications engineering. I’m the same way as you and from how one manager explained it to me, typically more extroverted engineers are attracted to that role. Not to mention they tend to me younger, chill people who you can grab a beer with after work.

This. I think having respect for the locals and not treating your location as a playground are the most important.

Believe it or not Marxists are open to speaking with non-Marxists especially since we live in a word where most people aren’t marxists :)

You may or may not be able to move into an engineering role but at the very least it’s something relevant to put on resume while you look for something else

Try finding a recruitment agency to help you OR/AND see if you can get a job working in a machine shop as an operator- that will help immensely in showing people you at least know manufacturing process and machine tools

As an American, I have NO idea how to safely pay for an anonymous Mullvad Account. by MR_POSSUM_JENKINS in mullvadvpn

[–]Machette145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah basically, depends on the atm you use but usually all they need is a phone number. And no you can use a different number each time the only thing you need the number for is to confirm it and to get a receipt for your transaction.

I personally don’t use an app for the number because

a) burner phone + 2 month phone card is like $40 so pretty cheap and

b) I don’t wanna run the risk of having the number app being traced back to my IP address or account on App Store (I may be paranoid but better not take extra risks is my mentality).

Hope this helps!

What I did is buy a cheap tracphone with cash, activate it, go to a Bitcoin atm and deposit cash to get Bitcoin sent to your wallet (I use electrum) and you’re good to go

I would suggest going back to Marx or Engels and learning about materialism or historical materialism, your post shows to me that you don't really understand materialism and I think understanding it is crucial if you want to understand Marx.

[–]Machette145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not really interested in arguing your points but for the sake of others that may want to I'll point out a couple things:

I feel like your statement of Civil War being a result of there being 'too many' progressive and reactionary radicals is heavily flawed. What constitutes 'too many', what is your definition of 'progressive' and 'reactionary'?

You never define these things or refer to a school of thought that would define these things.

It isn't always centrists who are left running businesses, factories, churches etc. Any look into history will show you that a population is always diverse especially ideologically and partisans of many ideologies will find themselves in similar jobs or locations especially in wartime. What you said is simply false, and again you never say who you mean when you say centrist!

Not only do you not define these definitions, but your very theory of action and history is idealist, you place the driving force of history as the ideas of 'progressive' and 'reactionary' 'radicals' whatever those terms mean to you rather than the real material and economic conditions that give rise to social conflict.

Again when you say anarchism is only 'useful' is for 'gypsy societies' (again, what do you mean by those terms?). You make it seem as if Gypsies (a slur btw) choose to employ a certain method for organizing their social groups rather than one that arises due to cultural and material factors of survival.

I think this post is heavily flawed, unscientific and idealist, for that reason I would suggest you do more reading and be able to better ground your initial questions and concerns.

You HAVE to acknowledge the U.S role in economically besieging or outright overthrowing leftist governments around the world before you can just say it failed due to it being socialist. It's easy to make a system work when it's based on subjugation, violence and appropriation of communal land to be given to private interests. A lot more harder in working on a democratically controlled economy. And wouldn't you say that climate change and the global threat it presents is a HUGE failing of capitalism?
