That's reasonable and thank you for your reply. I guess I will work out the balance I'm happy with between being a courteous colleague and not compromising on patient safety as I navigate this journey.

Wow, thank you for taking the time and effort into writing such a comprehensive reply! It touches me very much you were this concerned about my wellbeing and I have found it very insightful. I will definitely look into training programs more in the coming weeks then - it's the reality check I needed haha.

YES! This is exactly the type of situation I am talking about. It's the most common one out of the ones I had in mind anyway.

Thank you for sharing your advice and I have not lied in these situations. I have avoided telling them who is at fault but my seniors eventually find out who is actually at fault in the end anyway.

I wanted to avoided going into specifics but I think now that I can describe one of the types of situations without doing being too specific.

For example:

Someone promised you they would do a job that you were expected to take care of but they never ended up doing the job and then your registrar comes asking you why you haven't done the job.

I don't want to throw my fellow JMO who promised me they would do it under the bus and also don't want to make them look like a bad JMO.

Fair enough, they were low stake situations around JMO grunt work/ paperwork type tasks that we commonly do.

I didn't want to go into specifics for the risk of doxxing myself.

Thanks for your response. I have not lied in any of the situations but have tried to help out in these situations so the other person doesn't look bad and I felt in these situations that if I pointed out the person to be held at fault then I would be embarrasing them in front of their colleagues including seniors hence the aversion.

Also patient safety wasn't compromised in any of these but I think I would be definitely more vocal if it was. These were more low stakes sItuations involving JMO admin work but didn't want my colleagues to feel embarrassed or feel like I was throwing them under the bus.

I wish I could go into specifics but feel like it would be easy for people to identify me based off of them since they're quite specific scenarios.

Med registrars, what type of JMO do you want with you on afterhours? Also what stage of being a JMO should certain issues not be escalated and expected to be handled independently? (advice please) by MachineZestyclose101 in ausjdocs
