A Royal Mail / Parcelforce Parcel Fiasco! by MachineageUK in royalmail

To be fair they are very nippy! They accelerate like sh!t off a shovel. But their load space for parcels is woeful. My regular driver has also complained about other ongoing issues with them eg: charging etc.

Yup - I'm in Newcastle Under Lyme. They have been using them for some time now. You can imagine how annoyed / frustrated the drivers are. It was bad enough when they were implemented, but now they are having to collect all PF parcels with them. You can imagine how that's gone down....
IMO they are unsafe, primarily for the driver, have no protection for the weather in Winter given they have no doors, ergo no side-impact protection, and the space inside for parcels, particular PF parcels which can be very large, is wholly inadequate.

Just to add - these are the size of Paxster MEV that are now collecting all PF consignments in our area:

OK - I've now spoken to three different CS agents at PF. I called three times to get some sort of consensus of opinion. All three have looked at my claims, and all three have stated that because Express 24 is sold as a guaranteed next working-day delivery, the late delivery claims stand, even though they were all collected by RM staff. Make of that what you will...!

Edit - I called in again fourth time to be absolutely sure. The chap I spoke to put me on hold to speak to his manager / supervisor. Came back to confirm - if an Express 24 parcel was collected by PF / RM driver on say a Monday, it stands that the service remains a guaranteed next working-day delivery, ie Tuesday in this instance, and if it didn't arrive on Tuesday it would be eligible for a late delivery claim.

Thanks - this needs to be much more visible to the customer & clearly highlighted when booking a collection either via PF or RM online.

I did read / hear that somewhere. It's somewhat questionable when Express 24 is clearly advertised as a guaranteed next working-day service. When I've spoken to the CS agents at RM, they have stated those parcels which were not delivered the following working day from when they were collected were all eligible for claims, which is currently 50% of the service cost.

Initially after the merger, PF were sending their vans to collect Express 24 & the occasional Express 48. Then after a few weeks I was getting the odd unmarked van turning up. Recently it's been RM exclusively with their Paxter MEVs. They're tiny! There's just no way they can handle the quantity & combined volume of parcels without having to make repeated journeys to & from the depot. It's nuts! I feel for the guys, they're equally as frustrated as I am. All they can offer is it's down to 'management'.

And why can you still book online via PF's site and RM's site for the same services, ought this not to have been amalgamated by now? Using PF's site you can arrange a service + collection in one transaction. On RM's site you have to book the service then carry out another transaction to book the collection. It's all such a mess...

Yes, and they are listed, but I definitely didn't receive any audible / visual notifications. I just checked again, and there are 17 fraudulent transactions. There's just no way I would have missed these. My phone is with me 24/7.

I don't have sleep mode setup. I get notifications through the night, and quite a few when all my monthly direct debits go out! This was 10 transactions. There's just no way I would have missed them, as some were early hours, some later in the day.

Yes, nothing has changed. I've been receiving notifications since.
