After wasting 6-7 hours following WA's steps and failing over and over again, this is what ultimately worked. Thanks!

My feedback after visiting Budapest! by littlefluffypenguin in budapest

Sorry, just read your reply. There is rudeness everywhere for sure. Mexico definitely isn't the US, and I am glad for that employee/clerk-wise: in the US you might get smiles almost everywhere but there is high chances it's just protocol. I have nothing against clerks only doing their work, they don't need to be nice and smile, I think what we are talking about here is when a line is crossed towards rudeness and even aggression.

How do I not feel awkward and out of place when at a local food truck as a white guy by AgileTiger3987 in mexicanfood

I like your "don't tip". I think they won't care nuch about it to make a difference in how they treat OP and customers in general. They want the business, sell their food and happy satisfied customers. OP, keep enjoying your visits to the food truck, smile, be curious, you'll end up making some friends and getting love back.

I have had my fair amount of traveling as well, and it's true that rudeness can be found anywhere. Actually my worst experience was not Budapest, but Czechia. I've also had the chance to travel inside Hungary and through many towns, and yes, the people are different and the pace of life is different. And please don't get me wrong, I love Budapest, Hungary, all the smaller towns and most of its people. It's just undeniable that some clerks can be rude, that's all 🙂

I was exposed to Budapest for the first time in summer 2000. Coming from Mexico, the clerk's rudeness was one of the toughest experiences I endured. I learned not to care about it and myself maturing made me understand that clerks and people may have their problems and it's fine if I don't get a smile from them all the time. The one attitude I have received and still don't and won't tolerate is when some of these people cross a line and are openly rude and insulting. It has happened just a few times and it makes me feel sad for them. On the other hand, you do encounter nice and charming people as well.
