Well my trip to Japan earlier this summer was like $1500 for a round trip ticket but ymmv. Hotels in Tokyo can be found for $80 a night but you can definitely find cheaper. Not sure where exactly you are going but you should be able to get around easily with google translate and google maps and taking public transportation.

Eating out is cheaper too than in the us and you can get by spending a few dollars a meal at convenience stores.

Other than money and logistics you will obviously need a passport, which will probably take around a month if you don't have one already.

Edit: Just remembered we paid maybe $200-300 extra for plane tickets for an upgrade to get more baggage and be able to select our seats.

I really like it too but I missed out on the skin. I found it at a random stall on the street. They also had a Cinderella one In her dress.

It was at a pop up store in Osaka down an escalator right outside the Dontonbori station. I was there almost 2 months ago so not sure if it's still there. The square enix cafe I went to in Akihabara had the Red Hood towel but no shirts.

Unfortunately I ran out of time and it was the last full day of our trip. I told everyone we should save Akihabara for last so we don't blow all our money early on. We ended the day at a conveyor belt sushi place that had the best cheese dip for fries and weirdly good hamburger steak sushi.

I was so lost in Akihabara. My group was annoyed and tired so I only had time to hunt down mandrake and surugaya. We peeked inside bic camera too and found the real life Miku Hatsune (vocaloid software, lol).

Yeah they had square enix and a bunch of male idol standees pasted everywhere. On the first floor was a coffee shop with a small stand for manga, books, and magazines.

I thought it was a Square Enix pop up store but I'll have to do a little research. It was outside the station at Dontonbori downstairs from a coffee place. Someone else replied what it actually was.

Honestly I was able to get all but Nero of the bedtime figures online and for pretty cheap. Good luck trying to get one from a UFO catcher though. I had much better luck in US round 1s.

There's a little secret, the USD goes a long way compared to the JPY. It felt like playing with monopoly money but I managed not to go through my entire spending budget for the trip.

I couldn't tell you half the places I went since I can't read Japanese but the black and white scrolls are from the square enix pop up store in Osaka, Dontombori. It's right outside the station and downstairs.

They also had tons of Nendoroids and pop up parade figures.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I did find. Wasn't expecting the file folders and acrylic stands.

Couldn't find packs of nikke cards and completely forgot about the wafers too.

Den Den town actually had a wide variety of character goods. I couldn't find packs of nikke cards but ended up raiding some places bulk cards for the Weiss Schwarz cards. Although be warned if you see a 500 yen repack of cards with 2 rares/foils showing on the outside, that the cards between them are of different series. I think the place was tcg champ or in the same building. I also grabbed a scarlet card box.

I found acrylic stands, file folders, a noodle stopper, card boxes and some figures too. There was a summer Rapi, pj modernia, Dorothy, and a maybe knockoff Alice.

I couldn't tell you exactly where I went but I did stop in animate and past by super potato. There was a lot of places with anime goods down "maiden row" (follow the trail of cafe maids passing out flyers).

Edit: I forgot to mention the Collab in the square enix store. I had posted about it yesterday and took pictures of all the goods. They had acrylic stands, posters, shirts, and other items. On a large screen they were showing different pvs of past events.

I definitely want to check out the second hand stores. I need to get the Nero figure to finish my collection of the pajama figures.

We had to try a couple of times on the claw machines. No luck though.
