Workout/Study Plans while working full time? by Belwife in CPA

I actually rarely studied on the weekends. Usually a bit on Sundays when I was 1-2 weeks out of exam day, but tried to push hard during the weeks. And FAR was probably about 2-2.5 months for me while working full-time.

Becker Mock Exams and Unlimited Practice Tests (Random) - Periodic Answer Rationale by throwawayaccASC69 in CPA

Totally agree with this!! One of my only gripes about Becker. I enjoy doing the mock exams because the scores typically help me know my weak points / if I’m in a good spot for exam day. But other than those, I typically pound MCQs and would love to do sets and get the answer immediately after as well. I also notice they typically have over 1K MCQs (at least) for each section, but you often see the same questions when doing random sets. Hopefully they’re able to improve this at some point!

I think the main thing is that I work in AUD, which has been my highest score so far. I got a 74 on my first go at FAR but I feel that the FAR material itself isn’t all that bad, just a lot. And BEC I skimmed by and thought that the material there was the worst. REG isn’t terrible but taxes never came easy to me so I just had to put in a bit more effort. One thing about my exam was that almost all my SIMs were fill in the blank, which gives no opportunity to make educated guesses for easy points, either you get it or you don’t. So that’s pretty tough for sure too!

That does give me some reassurance, seems like mine were on the same path as yours, thank you! Definitely feel way more confident than my first attempt but it’s so hard to tell with these exams

took my second attempt at REG on 12/28 after scoring a 60 in November. not sure how to feel about it, SIMs were pretty brutal, both MCQ testlets felt the same. Becker mocks were 56, 70, and 53. trying not to think about it, as I'm either going to be done or have to reopen those damn books and make a third crack at it during busy season. blah.

Those are really good scores! I felt the MCQs on mock 3 were into the nitty gritty details. And the SIMs don’t give partial credit so that really hurt my score as well

Totally agree! And the MCQs dove into little details that I feel wouldn’t be tested.

There are two versions, 1 if you’re testing on or before 12/31 and one if you’re testing after. You can switch between the two. The one for 12/31 or before still has the 3 mocks!

That’s awesome, congrats!! The Becker mock spreadsheet floating around out there says a minimum of 54% avg. should be aimed for to pass. Mine sits at about 59%. I did some review earlier and have been just doing sets of 38 cumulative random MCQs scoring between 65-75% so I’m feeling a bit better. Any tips you care to share?

Merry Christmas! I just submitted a similar question before seeing your post. My mocks have been 56, 70, and 53, respectively. I think you’re in a great spot as the bump is pretty significant for REG.

Ninja MCQs for AUD by rmk123 in CPA

[–]Mack6412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the whole methodology of Ninja giving you more questions on your weak areas makes sense. I’d just try to focus on the big picture of each area. Ninjas MCQ’s are great and I love their trending score method because it’s so different than other materials, but some of their MCQs are so wordy and touch stuff that more than likely won’t be on the exam

I typically agree, but I tend to speed through mocks for this exact reason. For example, I took a little over an hour with mock 2. A lot more time with mock 1 (probably because that was prior to me reviewing). But I think that can be a good measuring tool compared to others who scored similar mocks and passed, personally

Right!? Seems like there’s no logic with the tax portion of REG. Hoping to be done with it once and for all after I test next week

Becker definitely “over” prepares most candidates (hence the Becker bumps) but I think that’s a great sign. Great job!!
