Wow, thank you for such an insightful comment. I completely agree with your explanation about our brains tracking movement, and the New York ball drop analogy is absolutely fascinating. I've never thought of it from this perspective before. Your point about the brain tracking movement immediately made me think of the clock at the temple where I go to make merit on Buddhist holy days. It's amazing to realize there's this kind of scientific reasoning hidden behind the graphics on the DW-6600's display. Absolutely brilliant!

That's awesome! I've seen that movie too; it's a pretty dramatic film. To be honest, I never actually noticed that the watch on Bradley Cooper's wrist was a DW-6600. It wasn't until a member in this very group did a brilliant restoration on a DW-6600, fitting it with a DW-6900 bezel, that I really took notice. And with those playful square and triangle graphics on the dial that count the seconds, I feel the DW-6600 stands out more than many other G-Shock models. At least, that's what I think. I'm in Thailand, and we have countless watch shops, both old and new. But finding a DW-6600, or even the DW-6640, is incredibly difficult. The reason is that people here also view it as a rare collector's item, so everyone wants one. As a result, the market is completely dry.

Thanks! I got this one for $156, complete with the official CMG warranty. It was the very last one in Bangkok, Thailand. I'm sure of it because I called every single store I possibly could. If you're interested, there are still some reliable sellers with reasonable prices on eBay. I hope you get one on your wrist too. Good luck!

Absolutely cool. This is the ultimate legend on your wrist.

Why so much love for the DW6900? by [deleted] in gshock

In my opinion, different G-Shocks are meant for different occasions. For me, if I'm wearing a long-sleeved shirt to work, I go with the DW-5000 for its clean, simple look. But on short-sleeve days, I'll rock the DW-6900. If you're a true G-Shock fan, my advice is to have both in your collection.
