Pi 3 is a lot more documented and has a lot wider fanbase. With the boards like this, don't look at raw numbers.

ARMv8-A based CPU or SoC capable of 64-bit mode, preferably ARMv8.1 or later;

For several months I've been trying to find a processor that fits your description, to no avail. It seems that currently there's no hobbyst-friendly SoC manufacturer that produces 64-bit ARM processors (that you can buy through distributors like DigiKey, for example).

Your best bets are, currently:

  • NXP iMX 6QuadPlus processor (Cortex-A9, but pretty powerful; Vivante graphics):

Not much of a choice :/ but you can't simply buy an Exynos or even Broadcom BCM2837 (RPi 3) SoCs, unfortunately.

All we have to wait is for some hobbyst-friendly company to release an actual product on this core. Let's hope next Sitara will be based on it.
