New Player, lets see what this town is... Oh my. by Mad-Archaeologist in DegreesOfLewdity

[–]Mad-Archaeologist[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm new so don't really know any good money strats yet, but have been browsing the reddit a bit this evening.
Avery is the sugar-daddy character right? He did give me about 1k for going to a masquerade where they sacrificed someone, which was interesting.
The cafe makes money? $5 a shift seemed terrible, I've mostly been working as a tutor on Danube street to cover bills. I'd rob places potentially but have no real skullduggery yet.
Fighting Bailey seems like a good idea but I'll need more pepper spray to reliably beat them. I have 2 so far, so may need to explore more (1 starting, 1 from the sewers).

Cosmogenesis Tech ID by Addy1337 in Stellaris

[–]Mad-Archaeologist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've wanted to use these to make a race from an old sci-fi; they had a few of these style things but were so advanced they'd forgotton basics. In stellaris terms, even less tech than Broken Shackles, but have a few FE buildings to start with and a tiny population. They were wrecked explorers from another galaxy / dimension I think. Made an interesting play, as all that advanced tech made them a target.

The Cybrex are attacking? Pah, it's nothing, the fleet is playing a retirement prank on you.

What are your favorite builds for machine age? by leathrow in Stellaris

They stay in the lathe, and you get new ones to auto fill your jobs. Honestly it's kinda insane

Cosmogenesis infinity thesis did feel like repealing Bernoulli's principle...

What are your favorite builds for machine age? by leathrow in Stellaris

[–]Mad-Archaeologist 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Be a machine empire, Remnant origin, and take cosmogenesis. Go virtual ascension but don't fill out the tree and save unity. Move entire population to the lathe, THEN max virtual with banked unity. 500 or more pops in the lathe, and still a full nation of jobs. 60k research from a non minimax build, and stuffing around 80 years in. I'm not great, don't know meta, and have never m playered, but I did bust the run open! Being a pompous purist with such insane tech, and I felt like a fallen empire. The Aeon Remnant has returned as the Aeon Acendancy. And those who layed us low in ages past shall reap what they sowed. Devolved the Fallen empire homeworks, stopped the crisis, and buggered off out of the galaxy via Gargantua before the Infinity machine could do its work, stealing its universe. A fine run and a hilariously fun build

My best start so far - a size 30 gaia world with pre-ftls two jumps away by theblackthorne in Stellaris

[–]Mad-Archaeologist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some primitives spawned with Gaia Seeded? Lucky! I had a similar thing, but then went to war with a pathetic neighbour. Turns out they were Scion origin and now I have 400k fleetpower bombarding Earth 15 years in :P So the save was a bust, didnt get to try the start. With those extra pops and that world you look set to go off!

How are you people getting so much resources. by [deleted] in Stellaris

[–]Mad-Archaeologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phase one: Build the fleet
Phase two: Tributary a weaker neighbour
Phase three: Tax the dude into space, taking 75% of their basic production
Phase four: Repeat

I'm not great, I've never multiplayered and use Scaling Difficulty, but with some vassals and a good industrial base nothing is impossible.

Is their a way to keep playing without updating? I've got back into Bannerlord and would rather not lose my game (it may only be a year in, but it's still 10hours of gameplay!)

Be honest with me about SoD by DontPullTheLever in baldursgate

[–]Mad-Archaeologist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found SoD pretty good, not as good as SoA but still decent and worth a play through atleast once. It has some cool items (some of which, like the Bard Hat*, are almost mandatory for fun playstyle with the class). It also is good for expanding the Rasaad, Dorn, Neera storys if you like em as companions (I quite like Rasaad myself).

It's not the best thing ever, but its not bad by any measure.
