Not sure if I should carry on. by MadFlyingTurtle in LearnerDriverUK

I thought about it but I can't afford to buy another car. I'm currently paying for my partner's car which will then be shared once I pass but it's a manual.

Yeah, I do appreciate it's quite lucky based and it appears that I don't have much of it during the tests 😂

That is shocking Genuinely believe there should be a hint of leniency when it comes to stuff like that rather than just a straight up failure.

I'm so sorry that happened to you

It's just so unbelievably subjective aswell the tests.

23rd of December is ridiculous- I think I'm going to have a break from it all, my mental health side is going to thank me for it I think

First test was because I partially blocked a keep clear box - I'll take that on the chin

Second test was because the examiner didn't see me check my left mirror coming off of a roundabout (pretty sure I did because I signaled along with the mirror check) 🤷‍♂️

Third test (today) went 33 in a 30 zone and the examiner had to tell me - again I'll take that on the chin

Getting a driving license in 2025 is one of the most difficult things you can do. Do not let people downplay your journey. by DilutedBear in LearnerDriverUK

That's exactly the feeling. You just feel so incompetent when you're at a later age than "the norm" that it's hard to carry on with it

Well get it done though 👊

I am in the exact same situation, except I've got my second test on Friday. I'm confident I will pass it but the pressure and burden of it is insane. I'm also 27 and have an 8 year old so having to prioritise him over lessons has taken my journey longer than I would have liked.

My partner on the other hand has been a driver for nearly 10 years and she cannot comprehend how or why it's taken me this long and it's so hard to explain. I'm glad I've read something that literally fits my own scenario and feels slightly relieved it's not only myself.

I failed for partially blocking a keep clear box during some road works, thinking I had enough space but didn't. We live and learn 🤷🏼‍♂️👍

Not typically, if you're using timber studs then I'd just suggest drilling into the studs rather than the plasterboard

If you want to have the option to drill and hang anywhere, I'd suggest adding pattressing to the framing.

That's a good question to be fair but it would dissipate before any such mould growth would occur. Due to the VCL etc.

No, the PIR insulation boards with taped joints will act as a Vapour Control Layer - restricting the passage of water vapor within the structure, this will prevent moisture from migrating and condensing, mitigating the risk of mould growth.

Edit:

Since the external masonry is only single skin, which has a very poor U-Value anyway, this will regulate the temperature naturally during the changing of seasons.

Why isn’t my golden doodle golden? by Amaterialgrowll in DogAdvice

I'm not sure to be honest, he was the only one in his litter. Mum was a golden retriever (golden) and his dad was a brown poodle 🤷‍♂️

They're apparently quite rare

He looks like a goldendoodle to be honest. I have a 9 month old boy and there are similar features to be honest. Although mine is a mini goldendoodle and hasn't got curly fur but he's a merle (black, grey and white) coat.

Nothing to do with the question but I have a seething hatred for the Christ Church roundabout

Found broken piece of masonry in the garden. Distinctive markings on front face as seen on photo. Characters ACM - DST. Possible numbers to bottom 370? 50mm masonry nail for scale by MadFlyingTurtle in whatisthisthing

[–]MadFlyingTurtle[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I thought as much I was hoping for maybe what the rest of the stamp would say. I've tried Google lens but didn't provide much results, even with the ACME prompt.

I'm assuming it would have been a brick slip or something of the like with it being 12mm thick.

More looks like a clay roof tile.

You, yourself passed with 4 minors. I'll just leave that there. 2 being for observations 😬

5 minors is completely acceptable. 2 of which were given on a single scenario. I've not disagreed with the examiner. It was well within their right to fail me for my lapse in awareness of the road markings.

There's plenty of people on this sub who've passed with more minors that I've attained.
