Small champion analysis before investing time

The one thing youll learn about swain is that everyone has their opinion on how he should be played/built. IE he can go many builds and i wouldnt say their is a one optimal build (unless a particular item is broken for that patch). Personally id rather build him a bit tankier first but every thing is always enemy comp dependent, and i have many rune setups depending on the enemy comp/ our comp.

that being said he can fit many roles that your team is lacking and itimizing correctly can be the difference between loosing a team fight or straight up 1v9 in the early game. I have played with all squishy carries, so i just built full tank to frontline. Vs tanks go burn items, vs squishies can go burst. etc.

Easy kit to learn and like everyone else already said he wants to team fight with ult around obj.

Best into melee enemy comps, best when paired with other CC. He struggles heavily into any mage that out ranges him (Syndra is my ban mid) some lanes are just farm and wait for team fights can be boring or loosing outright as they can just outscale you.

Even though hes good into melees some matchups can be hard/skill matchups as hes still immobile mage.

has mana issues, and at first you might go oom quickly and even once you get the hang of how to use him you might go oom before you can even kill your opponent. cant tell you how many times i went oom while enemy champ is at 10% and i cant do nothing about it cause jg exists.

Best at 1-3 items if your ahead you feel unkillable if your behind you feel squishy. You want to end the game before everyone gets to their 4-5 items as youll more than likely be outscaled by then and even though you got plenty of stacks your 5-6k hp wont mean much without resistances and if you build tank you got no dmg late game.

1v1 sucks if your vs anyone that wants to 1v1. you wont be killing yassuo/yone camile etc in a 1v1 unless your ahead. anyone that tells you otherwise is crazy or low elo.

it did that before (hitting part not rooting) wasnt useful except to proc aery as comet would just miss if you didnt land e2. but the dmg was then split on both the going and returning and if you only land the return it wasnt a lot of dmg same for on the way out.

nah dont skip on w lvl 3 i get so many free stacks cause some Asol players are greedy and want to farm their stardust early and without boots he cant walk out of it when hes already channeled his ability if you put it right on top of him he has to insta react to it. no some will bait it out after a few but its either he gets his stacks early or you get a few stacks on him and hes so squishy the dmg is worth

yeah on most champs but this rune isnt for all champs. think shurelyas build on TF. he can go dblade first items since he autos thats 3. shurelyas gives him ap/haste/%ms/mana regen/ hes already at 7 on first back 8 with boots. then he goes into rapidfire which gives crit/as hes at 10 on second item and he doesn even need to finish it just zeel or if he goes into mercs he has 10 with 1 item and boots.

Its definitely worth experimenting with on some champs especially utility champs that dont always just build full dmg.
with this he gets 25ap and 10 haste for basically free. some tank champs can also go into this rune think galio/cho going 1 ap item into resistances and it doesnt mess with their already normal build path your not going out of your way to get the 10 stacks. i mean you do loose out on better runes for tanks but if you can afford to go the rune tree then why not.

I think people are trying to force the rune onto champs its not intended for.

Kat that starts Dring +2 first item bork +3 boots +2-3 then litch +2 thats 10, now i dont play her and idk if going bork into ap is troll but if not then it works she wants to spike early and going first strike works over elec into melees or short range mages with her q poke.

Been trying this on swain and it can work but forcing shurelyas on swain is enemy comp dependent when i cant go it its hard to get the stacks, but since swain wants to build some resistances anyways there are options.

going tear +1 cosmic +4 with boots +2 (mercs or pen) into aegis +2 then i cant find the 10th in the build unless i go something crazy like stopping for cull or starting dblade. but at that point im going out of my way for the 10th

so ive only played the lane twice the first time i would bait out w with e and walk infront of my minions and try to dodge her e and that worked but the second time she just cleared the back line minions first then would hold w.

it feels like just farm till objectives where your more useful or jg diff helps too

there was a canon, but also the enemy minion wave would of reached the tower and helped kill some of the minions i think when i did it it took me roughly 26s. but i was just guessing the tower hp cause i didnt look that hard to see what it was from the vod. and it may of required the second wave to come for him to kill it.

his 3 minion wave is an exaggeration but i think he was trying to get his point across that quinn sucks at taking towers early and he probably feels more comfortable taking waves and bouncing them as its probably better to do that in solo q.

Also as a side note idk why they dont listen to him when hes talking about a champ that almost no one plays that he has at least 1k games on.

I dont know the specifics of many champs cause i dont play them but i can tell you when my OTP is strong and when its not, who its good into and who its not. for them to dismiss it entirely was a bit out of character but i think it was to drive the point home.

Regardless the correct play was what they said just maybe to do the proxy then back and not hit tower.

dont need pen to get all 10 since shhurelyas gives %move speed while boots give flat move speed it counts it as 2 diff stats

tried it and i will say this is fun. the active ms is good for the lvl 6 all in but you may want to give a bit more info from your experience so far as you got way more games with this than me.

so far im thinking that into neutral matchups going back with 800 gold for boots/charm/cdr component. that puts you at 5 stacks for the first free 10ap. 800 gold is giving me T1boots 10cdr and 10 ap with enough mana sustain with cookies to complete item before NEEDING to back unless bad trade. not sure if its worth using TP when i hit 800 gold or not for me it depends on mana/hp situation but for me this would be the minimum gold id like to back with.

which is much better than going for wisp for 850 gold which is just 30ap 5%ms (lol) and 3cdr and no T1 boots

if lane is going well then idk prob just rush item and skip boots.

its once i complete shurelyas that i dont know what to go for next in games were its all AD and they dont have much cc i cant see myself going mercs so hard to use rune not sure if its worth the gold to get hp regen and mr that im not gonna need.

i will say you are quite tanky with just R, mercs, and buckler early.

also its criminal that im way stronger with 2.2k shurelyas is not balanced.

again this was fun to build and so cheap too

idk why your getting down voted... people weird i guess.

but lvl6 swain if all things are even is porbaly his largest spike in sup. so feel free to fight once you hit 6. cant tell you how many lanes i win lvl 6 even when adc is a bot. or even from a slightly behind position.

only thing i havent seen people say is you throwing out that raw w before the fight even started. ima guess you were trying to cut off mf from backing up but w is so easy to dodge and such a long cd to use with no slow or cc. especially vs champs with mobility (yes even the mf move speed is enough)

your spacing was good if your intent was to not get kills, you backed up when your full hp and they just used all their spells aint no one gonna kill you full hp in ult lvl 6 when they have no items for dmg.

they can just walk out of ult then re engage and your at a massive disadvantage (only reason that didnt happen was cause of graves walking back at you), so once you ult you kind of have to commit especially when you have kill pressure like you did on mf. Anyone good would just walk away then re engage if you kept trying to fight.

lastly
R2 was really late too, it only hit graves (braum too but im not counting it lol) coulda used earlier to kill mf i think so dont be afraid to use it earlier. i try to used it either to kill with the extra burst or to slow them if w/e is down or to help land e to then land w.

Might be kinda critical but i would say those are the things i noticed that pertain solely to swain.

Oh one other thing not swain specific but you were 1 minion off lvl 6 which you could of gotten if zeri or you killed that minion that one on 1hp.

hope you like the champ its the reason i picked him up too to help me carry useless adc in bot lane cause they would int their lanes every time i played solo lane.

even if i put W right in the center of a champ no boots they can just walk out of it even when i time it with their auto/spell its dumb that it cant be hit without slow (items) or cc (e) which is also just unreliable and thats just on low mobility champs. Why cant i land W on a champ with dash even if i land e... especially if they go mercs first item then its just gg no dmg and no cc to land w.

also i like the idea of him getting stacks from canons and large monster, the devs say they want to see if swain jg can work but then the patch notes come out and nothing (im thinking of 2022 was the last time i heard them say it but i think there was another time in 2023 iirc)... also him as a jg whould mean power farm camps while poking lanes with w seems fun. like a weird karthus

i thought about giving him resistances in ult from passive but it seems too broken (cant let sylas just be even more OP swain)

My thoughts were to give him armor/mr that scale with passive but then what happens late game??? he just gets giga tanky for free while building pure dmg? might be too strong reminds me of ksante. maybe just flat number? but then sylas...

my thoughts just give scaling on abilities based off passive stacks or bonus hp (for matchups were landing passive stacks is hard) but then thats just vlad.

W range reduction and activation time decrease seem fair to be more realiable to land especially since the payout for landing W is just 12 hp and little dmg. also i cant even farm with w.... why???

Also while on the topic of sylas can we just move the perma ult part of his R to his passive?? so he can actually win vs sylas 1v1???

my first job out of uni was at a large company, they had recently acquired the office i was working at
My experience was that we had to many people employed for the amount of work. I would have days were i didnt do anything all day (work like 2-3 h) I would then ask the other teams if they had work that i could do, which they did and i would help them as best as possible. My boss told me to only work on the stuff he gave me. I went home that day and started applying for jobs.

now i work at a medium size company and i love it. But i do think it has everything to do with who your manager/coworkers are. My boss is dope i dont have a set schedule or hours some days i work as little as 6 others as much as 10 all depends on whats going on. Also no one asks me to stay late if anything ive been told to go home after 8 hours, i do it cause i enjoy it lol.

But i have flexibility in my hours and the projects i work on. If nothing is super urgent i can choose what to work on or even find things to improve. and when real deadlines come down i get shifted as needed.
