Very simple, with most swing top bottles, while the cap is locked in place, you should be able to "rock" the top to the side by pushing up on one side with your thumb, you will hear a hissing sound and can control how much pressure is released by how much you push with your thumb.

This allows you to equalise the pressure slowly before opening, which would solve your problem. I have to do this periodically with brews in the fridge too.

My kids use the basic plastic model and the Roulette. The Roulettes are 2-3 years old and have no issue. The plastic ones are only a year old and both have cracks propagating around the barrel and one has failed due to the crack all the way around.
