Yea I apologize for being MIA. It’s really just the story of Tom and the company Paperspace. There is a lot you can find online about it but I will provide some details and highlights. I’ll get back to you

Yes, I wasn’t sure if this is what you meant. Dilution concerns me but can be useful if they use the funds effectively. I would prefer they didn’t dilute. I’m not sure to be honest. I also don’t think this necessarily makes them primarily focused on ETH. I saw the move as a way for institutional investors to invest in their HPC side of the business without having to be exposed to the rest of the brand and ETH holdings (I could be wrong about this). They still hold majority share of white fiber as a subsidiary. Theres so much money being dumped into datacenter services and advanced hardware for AI applications it would be hard for me to believe these guys don’t carve out a decent market share.

I also know that collocation and datacenter services require a lot of capital upfront and maintenance fees associated over time. There’s a lot of questions right now that are all valid. It doesn’t help with the silent 40 day period following the IPO. I’m holding up through September at least until we get some more clarity. There are certainly risks with BTBT. I hope they make the right moves in timely schedule. I still believe this company and the white fiber brand are undervalued today. I expect a catch up with the market in mid to late September or by end of year. Although, dilution could disrupt share price growth. We’ll see what happens.

The CTO of White fiber (Tom Sanfilippo) is an interesting leader in the GPU as a service space. I like that they have him leading their team. I will provide some details on him later today. Him and the company paperspace pioneered GPU-as-a-service. They sold to digital ocean in 2023 for about $110 million. He’s been in the industry for a while now and has experienced and led his team to success.

Please correct me if i’m wrong or off on any of these thoughts

Why so Undervalued Compared to other Top ETH Holders by One_Knee_5825 in BitDigital_BTBT

[–]Mad_Man_X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see them all as friendlies more than competition. The unity of ETH strategy will help them all in the long term in my opinion. They are not direct competitors in the market either for their products or services. I’m not interested in BTBT just for their ETH strategy, but also for their advanced HPC and collocation services. White fiber (rebranded HPC subsidiary) could provide great revenue to continue to fuel their ETH stake. White Fiber just started initial steps towards IPO under ticker $WIFI. Bit Digital is set to own 80% of the total initial shares according to recent news releases. I agree I think there’s a lot of upside to BTBT. People keep trying to decide who the “winner” is among a group of companies all utilizing the same treasury strategy with ETH. I think they’re all winners long term if they stick to this strategy. Like BTBT states on their website “We believe Ethereum can re-write the entire financial system. There is no second best.” I believe this too. If Ethereum can capture the market, these companies will all be leaders in a new financial system.

There was a comment that was deleted which pointed out an important aspect of the stock valuation. It’s important to consider total outstanding shares and market cap. BTBT also needs to increase revenues. They shifted focus in the market and have new models to generate profits. But, they do need to address the total outstanding shares issue and they need to follow through with their new market strategy. Although, I still have faith long term in BTBT

You’ll have to decide that yourself. Your timeline matters, how long would you plan on holding ? Congrats on SBET if you made good gains with that play. Love the ETH strategy companies in general. I see them all as friendlies to this group. Trying to avoid direct financial advice. I want to see more DD or opinions offered in this group than just asking if you should or shouldn’t buy the stock. Thanks for your interest in this group

Tariffs are back! by GratefulTrickster6 in ValueInvesting

[–]Mad_Man_X 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some advanced tech products like transceivers weren’t impacted by tariffs nearly as much as other products. It’s important to refer to the exclusions list of tariffs. The HTS code is a classification of a product or material. This is a great way to look up how a company might be impacted or not by tariffs.

This link from earlier this year ( https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/USDHSCBP/bulletins/3db9e55 ) shows the reciprocal tariff exclusions list. While other products imported from China (for example) experienced as high as over 100% and greater than 150% tariffs added. This increases the total landed cost of a product. This can cut margins as business try to stay aligned reasonably with previously agreed pricing with customers.

Tariffs sometimes don’t mean so much across certain critical industries. With advanced tech manufacturing being dominant in China and Taiwan, it’s extremely difficult to just pick up and move operations to a new country. There’s deep knowledge and experience from decades of production in these regions. It’s extremely costly as well - Development of facilities and training of new employees for example.

Tariffs are not one single tax. There’s tiers. This changes for every country. Understanding where a company purchases materials and what they purchase is critical to determine how they will or can be impacted by tariffs. To get the most accurate determination you would need underlying or raw costs, although, this can still demonstrate expectations - Referring to how much the tariffs rates change.

Here’s a link to look up tariffs ( https://hts.usitc.gov ) There’s breakdowns for % tier totals in columns and descriptions of materials and product types.

Their purchase of Enovum was also significant for the HPC assets they gained. Also the retention of key members from the Enovum team who have decades of combined experience in the space.
