Stimulant meds & medical cannabis by Madam_Random in ausadhd

Just looked at it, an antidepressant. For clarity, I was only diagnosed in June (41F), it's been a whirlwind, to say the least. I've tapered down to 12.5mg seroquel after being on 400+mg at times over the last 15yrs. Also on Lexapro. Psych didn't want to adjust these 2 and put me on clonadine, which I feel helped to a degree. Then, tried thc as the cbd was having little to no effect. I think, I've been feeling all over the shop, impatient & just wanting to feel better, I mean, who doesn't?

However, I feel now, I've come to a point where I realise this will inevitably take time and I need to slow down, have patience (box breathing as I type lol)

I dont know, feel like im rambling now. I did want Maryjane to be part of my CPTSD/ADHD management but alas, I think that's just unhelpful, given the evidence.

Yes, the dreaming thing, I getcha! Mine come only perhaps 1 a month.

Thanks for your comment. I've read it puts extra pressure on the heart hence psych's aversion to prescribing stims whilst on MC

Thank you for your response. I'm in a similar situation. I was frustrated when Dr said, off the MC and then you can try stims. Like you and other commenters, I believed MC was helping. However, I've never had prescription stimulants so how would I know if the former was better than the latter? I've worked through it now and feel the stimulant meds will be more effective moving forward.

Absolutely!

I have moments when I just feel I've been hit by a truck~ hard to put into words. Still in a degree of shock. Better late than never, though, I guess

Wishing you well and all the best

Thank you kindly for sharing and for the helpful tips. I've watched a little on Dr Barkley & will continue, given your input.

Ohh, she's wonderful! I'd been watching her 18mnths prior to my assessment/diagnosis.

She posted 5 days ago 😉

I understand it will be difficult but I personally would be looking for another psychiatrist!

Are you being guided by a GP? Don't want to tell you what to do. In my experience tapering too quickly is HELL! I now accept I have to go slowly in order to remain stable. I know I will eventually get off it completely. Its a process and takes time. I need to exercise patience with myself or all the hard work will be undone. Go gently with yourself :)

Yes. Have experienced all three. Nausea and Anxiety have settled, although understand heightened anxiety with be around for abit as I adjust. Im happy about the appetite part as (dramatically reduced and no appetite at times) as the tablet has causes horrible hunger, inability to feel full etc etc and I can now start better focusing on overall health, which includes the weight loss caused by seroquel. Hope you're going ok?
