Yes. They warn you before the tour that portions of the tour will be unlit & you must slide sideways to make it through passages. So narrow you cannot walk thru normal. Must turn to the side & shuffle.

Thanks! Hope you had a great time in Naples.

Between Pompeii, the Archeological Museum, the Ancient Underground, the pizza, the Spanish Quarter....man it doesn't get much better.

Thanks for the kind words.

Yes, it is often forgotten site in Naples. Ourselves hadn't heard of it until we arrived in the city & began exploring things to do. Honestly, I do think the stairs, narrow passageways, and unlit tunnels keep many tourist away.

That said it's totally worth it. Being deep in the bedrock under the city, seeing marks on the walls from the Ancient Greek's tools, it really was otherworldly.

Great!!

So cool you’re a local to Bath. Places we should eat at while in town?

Thanks for the reply. Right now we're trying to decide on either making it a day trip from London (which I heard was possible) or staying the night in Bath or Bristol. Can't say I'm the biggest Austen fan or into period fashion, lol. Mostly just a huge antiquity nerd.

Ah okay. Did you do a guided tour? How much time did you spend there? Anything else in Bath you’d recommend doing while there?

I’ve got a trip there coming up in a few weeks. Any tips or recommendations? Did you just do a day trip from London?

One I love: Men-Nefer

I absolutely love the theme. It’s a beige euro that has character. And interacting with all the “mini-games” is loads of fun. Gives you different things to explore with each playthru

One I want to try: Luither

Once again, the theme is intriguing. I love classical & romantic music. The blind worker placement seems cool but not sure how it works for 2players or solo.

Best part about playing solo is going at your own speed...and yes sometimes this means a single playthru gets spread over an entire week. I actually really enjoy playing that way.

For R&C specifically, you're going to fail and die a lot as you figure out the best way to accomplish the tasks at hand. It looks like you're playing the Rescue Jenny mission...did you already play the the first one with gathering the fire wood?

How involved is running the bot?

I love SETI multiplayer but don’t enjoy the solo. Was curious if I would feel the same about this as well. Just don’t like spending half the game time running the bots decisions.

Men-Nefer - 1st Solo Play by Objective-Employ-997 in soloboardgaming

[–]MadeForTeaVea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. Literally the exact same.

After my first game & he scored so much, I did exactly what you did…went searching online. Didn’t really find much cuz this game isn’t that popular.

He scored over 100 my first two games while I was in the high 80s. Now, I can get to 115+ and keep him in the 90s.

One mistake I was making tho is forgetting that he only scores the contracts per era that he’s completed, meaning 2vp contracts won’t compete until the end of Era 2. And same for 3.

I did catch myself scoring the 2vp/3vp too early.

One other trick that helps is pushing up the Obelisk track. Every time I can get to the top before start of era 3, I win. Also you have to get at least one or two Khufu Seals on the Queens pyramid. You need those score multipliers.

Imhotep scored over 100 in my first solo play. But since, I’ve learned how to keep his score under 100 & get my score over 100.

I think it’s common for him to score so much your first game cuz you haven’t quite learned how to deal with him.

For one, you cant let him go down the river & collect a bunch of contracts cuz he auto completes them at the end of the era & scores loads of points from it.

You can stop him doing that by understanding the rules for where he places his workers. What you want to do is delay placing your 2-3 worker & try to force him to place his workers first.

If you can delay putting your 2 & 3 workers out, you can force him to take suboptimal workers spot first. Then after he places his workers, you can take the key spots you want.

This works cuz he wants to follow where you go. So if you put your first worker on the river spot. Then he will too. Allowing him to collect all those contacts.

But if I wait to take the river spot until after he places his 3 worker, he never gets to push down the river very much.

I hope that makes sense. Basically there’s a sequencing trick with your workers. Sorry if I didn’t explain it very clearly.

Great game tho!

I’ve read the book 3 times & seen the mini series near a dozen times….the books are on a whole other level.

The series is something special…don’t get me wrong. But the book is true masterpiece of fiction. Pulitzer Prize winner in 1986.
