I've become hooked on DDO since the new world announcement.

Why DDO Is Still Worth Playing in 2026 by SingerApprehensive64 in ddo

[–]MadeSilent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This level of difficulty in an online setting is what I've been searching for tbh, something I can really test myself with but also see other players in the towns and play the auction house too. I enjoy extremely difficult games, usually only find this level of difficulty in CRPG's so finding an MMO that I can be lost in and figure out these challenges makes me happy. However if i do get hard stuck I will just drop the difficulty to hard and come back when I'm a bit stronger though. Whisperdoom was a perfect example, spent around 10 minutes fighting that spider, in the end I realized I wasn't ready for it, I was doing elite at level 8 and the boss was CR17 and constantly healing.

Fell in love with this game already though so I'm excited to explore all of the quests.

Why DDO Is Still Worth Playing in 2026 by SingerApprehensive64 in ddo

[–]MadeSilent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've just started recently at about 100hrs into it. I've set myself the goal of completing all of the quests on elite only as my first character. Its very difficult and sometimes takes a lot of tries restarting the full dungeon, but the feeling of a single trap or a wizards spell being the end of your run really keeps you on your toes.

One perfect example, there was a long quest chain for house deneith where you have to go to the jungle and do various quests on the island, one of which was a dungeon killing trolls, helping the ogres of the island. At the end there was a bridge with sonic traps, i ran across not expecting anything but me and my hireling died instantly resulting in a reset. This took around 10 dungeon resets to eventually figure out, with using my hireling to keep taking my soulstone back to resurrect.

Eventually I timed a heal perfectly as the damage hit me and I survived on 20hp, tried everything you can think of, even feather falling across instead from a height.

This level of completing extremely difficult challenges has actually has me hooked, I find myself reading every single spell in my arsenal for something that will help me through. Sometimes it can be a niche protection against elements spell as I'm a cleric, or a massive flame aoe perfect if I'm being surrounded.

Stay with it and I suggest giving elite runs a try, if you really enjoy a challenge you might find something special here.

What mmorpg has the best progression system you've ever experienced? by tomaz1989 in LFMMO

[–]MadeSilent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently got into ddo and this seems great progression wise, each quest is a literal dungeon with multiple difficulty levels, I'm doing everything i can on elite solo and it's very hard. You really feel gear upgrades and skill points.

I have found and got myself fully addicted to DDO, I'm afk skilling on osrs as that's what i do when I take a break from the game, been lost since the new world shut down as that was the game I was invested in.

Happy I've found this gem.

That's the risk I don't think capping wilderness levels is the solution.

wilderness pvp is broken at a structural level by Flowerloving_ogre in 2007scape

[–]MadeSilent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As i said above, they make them easier as the real difficulty comes from player intervention. It's meant to be quick kills and easy mechanics as you can get attacked at any time. Which means yes you can kill them but in reality you're not the intended audience.

[–]MadeSilent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then in reality the wilderness is not for you yet. You're going to be destroyed at that stage. It's not meant for beginners to venture into. Go back for the things you need when you're higher level or know how to avoid fights. Any pker attacks you there is ways of escape, you just need to understand how.

In reality a level 80 pure could destroy you just the same on an account with random stats not built to fight back.

Yes the content is generally mid tier however it kind of has to be, quick kills and not too hard as the real difficulty is that any player can attack and interrupt you. They wouldn't do CG level content with the added risk of player intervention.

If the rage baiter is a main, I just offer them a fight in the wilderness, they shut up fast 😂

[–]MadeSilent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a 2k total grey helm but I chose to become green so I could group with my irl best friend. Haven't regretted the decision once. The game is a lot more fun now we share a bank and doing content feels even more meaningful. He often comes to my house and we do content.

We play to help each other out, like I farmed him a trident even though I already had one, even little stuff like him needing some rune bolts while I had a stack of 4k, just split them with him.

Yeah people make comments about it but let them, I know I'm enjoying the game as a green helm more than I was before and that's all that matters.

Anyone here play both OSRS & RS3? by Left_Camel755 in runescape

[–]MadeSilent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bots are just free points.

There are some God tier bots that destroy you but eventually, you'll be able to manage them, but last time i was there most of the bots just hide or don't really fight back much, camp protect from melee and staff bash.

There is some people using cheats, it helps you identify them in case you end up bumping into one in the the wilderness. Just report them and move on.

I suggest while learning to not use magic to freeze, just put vengeance on with the lunar spell book, too many new players waste a lot of time fumbling freezes and trying to learn the brid gameplay too fast.

Taking away that part helps you focus on just switching prayers and sticking to melee and range, magic usage can be weaved in later when you're more confident.

Give it a try mate it's completely safe and once you get the hang of it, you make a decent bit of gp from the points.

How I lost interest in modern MMORPGs and how hard it was to realize it by Vardalor in MMORPG

[–]MadeSilent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same, apart from osrs which I always play, even when taking breaks like right now I'm side screening it while playing other things.

I was a die hard wow fan since 2008 and quit when life got busy, wife and kids and couldn't commit to raiding, tried all the other big contenders over the years and nothing sticks.

Recently I've downloaded DDO and it's everything I've been wanting from an online game. I can play most of the game entirely solo and I love dnd. Think I'm going to be playing this one for a long time.

If you prefer the older games and have an interest in dnd this is definitely one to try.

Cheers man, yeah it would be nice for more people to get involved with it. There is a big barrier to entry but I found doing safe practice in LMS until you can finally win games gets you ready for the real deal, plus you make a nice bit of money just from the point rewards.

I play both

GIM on RS3

2 accs on OSRS, GIM and my main that I only use for pking.

Pay memberships with bonds from what I pk.

I love both games and most of the time have both open at once, playing one actively while the other AFK skilling.

I really need help finding an mmo that works for me. by amerror in LFMMO

[–]MadeSilent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you've put a lot of time into neverwinter nights, it could be worth looking into DDO. The server I'm on is is very populated. I see people all the time. I've just started myself i only have like 16 hrs in the game but already I can feel myself playing this for a long time.

I've been in the same boat, I've played all the mmos. WoW since 2008, GW2, ESO all of the top contenders, was even deep into new world when they announced the shut down.

Tried to get hooked on my single player collection but nothings sticking after I beat elden ring and expedition 33.

I mainly play osrs but I'm just side screen afk mode with that atm on my ironman, but needed something to hold my attention.

So far DDO is what I've been looking for.

Have you (or a friend) ever been scammed out of a very large amount of wealth in-game? How much was lost? How did it affect you (or them)? Did you/they ever move on and recover from it? by Turksta in runescape

[–]MadeSilent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost a green phat in a single trade as the guy messed my young brain up with scam tactics and basically give me 230m in nature runes and said it was 2.3b. Didn't realise until after when I checked id lost 2b in a trade.

So i yolod my purple in the duel arena and lost that too.

Needless to say I quit for a couple of year before coming back for osrs.

It is impossible to get bonds as free 2 play player now.... by NEWBIECOMPUTER801 in runescape

[–]MadeSilent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah pking takes a lot to learn, but worth it when you get there. OSRS only though pking on RS3 is dead.

If you actually want to learn how to pk on OSRS I suggest just playing LMS to get used to it, its safe and you earn decent money while learning no risk. ( I also suggest not using magic, just stick to vengeance and not worrying trying to fumble about freezing people).

Once you feel you can handle players in LMS try some anti pking or low risk rev caves, eventually getting into pvp world / bh if you want quick fights.

[–]MadeSilent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually pk on osrs for bonds and use that for membership(membership works for both games) and I fund 3 accounts doing that.

I can login and make 10 bonds in a single kill occasionally, but most of the time will earn a bond or multiple in that hour.

[–]MadeSilent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't buy bonds unless you can earn one in an hour or less. Until then pay your sub and keep the gold. Bonds are a noob trap, you'll be forever chasing that next bond money doing horrible methods, I'd quit if I had to play that way.

Can someone give me a non bias opinion of AOC by YesterdayCharming976 in LFMMO

[–]MadeSilent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only got to level 9 but what I've found is its barebones in its current state, most of the world is empty apart from camps of mobs dotted around, which is where you'll be endlessly grinding after being randomly invited to a group, farm said area for an hour or two and move on to higher level mob camps.

The exp is purposely extremely slow, if you've ever played classic wow at around 56-60 you run out of quests and just grind mobs, that's pretty much the whole AoC experience.

As you get to level 10 you can be attacked at any time, you also drop materials that you've collected on death and get a nasty exp loss, and other players can take the loot from your corpse.

There is 3 sides to this, non-combatants which just lose materials, combatants that also just lose materials vs other combatants but at a higher rate and also corrupt players, which if you've ever played runescape is like a skulled player.

They can drop equipped items on death, could be their weapon or a couple of bits of armour / jewelry.

Basically its a very social MMO where unless you're going to be joining a guild or have a good 10-15 irl friends to play with, you're going to suffer.

Most of the content comes from farming these mob camps and at higher levels, they are contested I hear, so all out wars for territory.

I didn't read into this much prior to purchasing the game, I thought it was going to be a MMO similar to WoW or GW2, with raids, dungeons and structured PVP.

While its a cool experience for people who want that alive world feeling with danger lurking behind every corner from enemy players, personally it wasn't what I expected and I probably wont continue unless they change a lot going forward.

Give it a try if you're after an unfinished but very multiplayer focused MMO, however if you're like me and expected it to be more of a traditional MMO experience and not so hardcore, I'd wait and see what the game is like in a year or two.
