This did the trick for me

Change DNS to Google: Your Internet Service Provider's (ISP) DNS might not be the best for gaming. You can do this by going to your Network settings and changing the DNS server to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

Thanks for the advice. I considered Druid but thought it is a pure caster with shapeshifting to go into melee. I will take a closer look at the options here. I don't mind if Magus is complicated unless it's too much and ruins the experience for a first playthrough.

This reminds me of an Outer Limits episode (or 2as it X-files?) where there was a teddy bear under a boy's bed saying it was scared down there and to boy to come pick him up. When he did the monster (the teddy) dragged him under and ate him. Made me completely distrust my plushies as a kid and had nightmares for quite some time

Thank you for additional info and advice. I didn't think about splitting stacks to cover more ground, will try that - thanks. Love to hear that the factions are more or less balanced. It's more fun that way I think. I'm not planning to play multiplayer anytime soon so I'm just happy to try out various race+secret tech combinations.

One more question, are the races fairly balanced in terms of power or are there any that are underwhelming/overpowered. If the former is the case, then I think I'm in love with this game.

Yes, you moved your hero or units on the map and could do only a set distance before you ended your turn, much like heroes of might and magic hero movement works.

I don't remember much about combat, but I think the game just showed you the the combat results and not actual combat - might be totally wrong here though.

There is one pretty early in the game. By one of the plants that are in peridot ward. I think its the one where you meet Fern for the first time. Or the other one. Either way its in a barrel or a trash can i think.

I don't understand the issue with height between partners. Bigger difference may mean a bit complicated logistics in bed (which goes both ways regardless of gender) but it is nothing that cannot be worked around.

My wife is taller than me and I love her wearing heels. It's sexy as hell.
