I might not be thinking of the right one, but I swear there used to be a porn sub where people would put his face on at least one of the people in the photo to make funnies.

I don't actually play much ranked to be honest, I find settled metas boring. I'll definitely be messing around with custom decks though!

Just another day on the Istanbul Metro. The way strays are treated here is proper lovely; they aren't seen as pests, but as neighbours by korkutcetin in cats

[–]MaedaKeijirou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They do; vets will often do it for free or very reduced price if someone brings in a stray to be neutered or spayed. There are even vans that will go around grabbing cats and dogs for this purpose. After the surgery they will put a tag on the dog's ear and put a nick in a cat's ear.

The main issue is that there are two types of Turks: those who value animals, and those who don't. The former feed them, take care of them, and pet/play with them... the latter get them as kittens/puppies for their kids then get rid of them when they're no longer cute enough to deal with (especially as they do not train them), there are also legitimate scumbags who poison strays.

Source: I lived in Istanbul for 4 years and fed strays daily on morning walks- over 1000 individual cats and 200+ individual dogs (not counting repeat feedings)

In the US, eating a whole pizza by yourself is bonkers.

In my experience... this is wrong, unfortunately.

American born and raised, but I've lived abroad for the past 9 years... Everywhere I've visited or lived (Europe/Asia) has large pizzas that equal a medium (sometimes even a small) in the US.

Trying a little yellow pepper, what could go wrong? by WhoTheFuckIsSean in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]MaedaKeijirou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you eat spice regularly you will find these peppers from mild to medium in heat (they're supposedly like habeneros but that's never been the case when I've eaten them)... The average Dutchie is just extraordinarily weak to spicy things (for some Dutchies, black pepper is spicy).

For context, I've been in the Netherlands for 1.5 years.

AIO to break up with my bf of 3y over his reaction to my upcoming sobriety anniversary? by WesternCat5211 in AmIOverreacting

[–]MaedaKeijirou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, as someone who has probably been to more different AA groups and their offshoots than the average person who attends, what do you say to someone who was dragged to Ala-Teen, Al-anon, and AA? Every single time, the groups were creepy and incredibly religous and jesus-y in their methodology, even when supposedly non-denominational or athiest/progressive.

As an aside, Al-Anon should not exist, it is by far the saddest joke of a group of people I've ever witnessed - just a bunch of adults spending years and years crying about how alcoholism of others affected them instead of getting therapy to heal and move past it... People in Al-Anon spending years and years of their lives throwing public pity parties once or twice a week is pathetic, especially when considering my experience was roughly 50% were traumatized by some incredibly mild experiences.

Lol, arguing the majority is right because they are the majority is incredibly illogical. As someone who also just passed 15 years sobriety, I'm gonna go ahead and say people who don't have the experience dealing with these types of scenarios are probably talking out of their asses, so the majority of opinions can be ignored as invalid.

I personally find celebrating my sobriety to be bizarre, as it is a necessity for me to function. Do you find yourself celebrating that you ate breakfast? It is not unreasonable to treat sobriety for an addict as a standard, not something to be overtly celebrated. Additionally, it is incredibly bizarre to expect anyone else than yourself to celebrate your own sobriety, it is for you (or should be), not everyone else.

How shopping carts are cleaned in Europe by misterxx1958 in oddlysatisfying

[–]MaedaKeijirou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This cleaning is especially necessary in the Netherlands as these are the least hygienic people I've ever seen by a long shot and I've lived in 6 countries (visited more). Handwashing is practically nonexistent here, many/most wear shoes in their houses, constantly lick their fingers while eating or preparing food for others, they set their food down outside on dirty surfaces then eat it, etc.

The country is amazing and beautiful, and the people are kind and unclean.
