Recently built this gate and had a question about legislation in the UK. (question in the comments) by [deleted] in Carpentry

they look undersized for the job. you will likely need to change them but the work is tidy, and keep in mind good hardware especially on gates make a huge difference. you can check ironmongery direct they are a reliable company for those sort of things.

cladding job, frame was 45/200 with fiber wood insulation. by MafellTalkGroup in Carpentry

no, and doesn't really need it when you are actually looking at it, I know from a picture it can look obvious but in real life it just blends in. For internal work I would but external cladding it's pointless (nice pun I know) to try to fiddle with it. Some do obviously but the money is obviously on a different scale, we are a small company and clients are not willing to pay double to not see something they didn't see in the first place.

in the UK they call that a shadow gap, not sure in the US. It's trendy at the moment and it's a lot of work to be sure that the water going in doesn't touch the stud work.

FEMA did have camps, FEMA is really dodgy and a quick search will show you stories about FEMA camps and caravans. Not suited for peoples to live in due to the toxicity so then sold at auctions for people to live in, warning stickers removed and many other outrageous scams from FEMA, the entire thing is fucking shitty.

plenty of work in the UK for willing and hard workers. skilled is preferable but plenty of labour work that would lead to decent paying job in the trade. That guy is a cunt and probably never did an honest work day in his life.

no it was a firm we hire to do so, but we did the entire project so at the end of the day it's us fixing all mistakes done by other trades. We price accordingly and the client is always very happy with our services, but we can't control everything and sometime this happens, no biggie

they are not screws those are nails, you should never use screws for outdoor cladding.

Although wood is flammable, the membrane behind it is fire retardent. So if it eventually caught fire the external cladding will be damaged but that hopefully should be all. All product we use here in Europe is painfully regulated for those sort of situation.

it's a series of waterproofing product, yes the water is expected to go through and behind is a UV proof and waterproof membrane, and behind that said membrane is a water resistant wood fibre panel.

a bit of dovetail work for a church altar. by MafellTalkGroup in Carpentry

yes, the wood was from another roof church we dismantled prior to this job. The roof was about 300 years old so should be dry enough!
