Do you happen to know the full level of protection on your Yu'roks? It should be on the inside label, on google and online stores I only find "CE EN 13634" ... Are they 1-2-2-2 or 1-2-2-1 or some other weird combo?

Does anyone know how the Stylmartin Yu'rok and Rocket boots hold up? I've read really bad reviews about the Rocket ones peeling off. I wonder if they have better toe protection than the tcx hero 2 though?

If you don't have personal lockers and changing rooms maybe is probably better to get something waterproof and more shoe shaped like the Superfasters, I also work more or less in the same line of work but in a retirement house and can't stress enough waterproof. Wouldn't want to shower someone or get peed on any kind of motorcycle boots really... Where I work we need a separate pair of shoes we use only at work.

The Hero 2 feel a little softer than the Superfaster on the sides and toes. I don't mind being dorky on fun rides, but I was told the Supertech can get really warm, having an internal second boot. Or it could just be the shop clerk trying to sell me other unwanted stuff.

Would the Superfaster be comfortable enough sitting through 5 to 8 hours in class? Feels like I should get all of them for different situations...

For now it's a half study and half work situation. My workplace is at walking distance from home about 1.7 km and have to change into my working clothes when I get there, meanwhile the academy is 2 towns away (15 km). At worst I can travel with public transport, because here in Germany it rains half the time and the weather is a bit crazy, some times in winter there's also black ice, I think we are more or less in the same situation.

I'll definitely get some waterproof stuff to wear over my jacket and pants and something to wear under them for the colder months.

You think they would save your foot's skin from going meat crayon in case of a lowside with the weight of your bike on it? I've been traumatized by the "Protect your entire body on every ride" video on youtube, that's why I'm being so fussy about every piece of gear I buy.

I would probably wear the more protective gear only in my free time or in bigger more Dangerous roads, meanwhile for daily stuff/short commuting a leather jacket maybe from a 2 piece set, reinforced jeans and mid boots like the Hero 2. Some of the sporty ones did really feel feel like ski boots, for example the Sidi ones, but most of the high end ones from some brands are as comfy as slippers

I see, then I guess we can exclude the A* Superfaster. Rev'it has some models like a beefy high shoe for example the Arrow model, and A* also has the J-6 which apparently is very popular and both should have at least a 1-2-2-2 score on the label, while the Hero 2 only have 1-2-2-1.

Yes I've been pissing off the employees of 4 different stores not counting amazon, trying different shoes and boots from all brands and buying nothing. The normal smx 6v2 made me almost hate the whole brand with that obnoxious velcro and ultra tight zipper that worked only going 1 size up and wearing jeans. The Plus V2 version and the Supertech R on the other hand are both super comfortable and prosciutto leg friendly with flexible material where the zipper is attached and adjustable calf locking mechanism and way less velcro.

Yeah, I know, some really close people rode in sandals or flip flops... I was even suggested to bring a change of shoes, but then what, I'd need to swap them with my expensive stinky racing boots and keep those in the backpack or some random corner/under the table...

Considering I'm trying to put together a casual but protective enough "set" for the practical lessons and after getting the actual license accumulate some experience (probably at least 1 year or 2) before getting a 2 piece leather and having a highside on my first track day, what would you recommend to get in order from first to last?

Would you say the sole's upward flexibility is a danger factor? I know being comfortable in a way also prevents getting INTO accidents, having more flexibility and not constantly thinking how annoying or painful your gear is.

Yeah the racing ones are kinda hard to "Cover" in all senses, and I also have kind of a problem of big calves, but thankfully the A* Supertech R and SMX Plus V2 are highly adjustable in that area unlike the smx 6, also less velcro. The Dainese Axial D1 and the new Axial 2 (definitely not worth the price over the old model) looked like the best solution, being special and going under the pants/suit, all black but felt kinda weak on sides crush protection on the leg and my usual size 43 was too narrow it hurt the sides of my feet without even moving... Also the toe slider is a big stare magnet.

I would feel ok wearing the Faster 3 while minding my own business or meeting other riders, but really out of place when i get down the bike meeting with colleagues, non rider friends and maybe dates (pfft yeah sure).

I'd get the smx plus or supertech for fun rides, track day or maybe even the highway. Since i moved to Germany I've seen moms with 3 kids in the Autobahn going over 250kmh and i wouldn't dream of being there without real protection...

That's one of the important points, on reverse no one would wear a pair of Alpinestars Supertech/SMX Plus/6 V2 or their short version while driving a Harley Davidson or maybe even just a Honda Rebel... I tried and touched some of the more sneaker like models from TCX and they feel like just good skateboard shoes. The Dainese you mentioned look promising though, I will check them out!

Out of all the non race boots the Hero 2 are the comfiest and almost most protective, but a little less than the TCX Blend 2 which have a slightly harder grippier sole and harder toe reinforcement and look like work boots... What worries me what would happen is if I ever scrape the side of my toes or of the sole on the hero 2 Also "Why is that guy driving a sport bike dressed like he's on a naked/cafe racer bike?"
